Re: Preparing for Hybrid Configuration Wizzard with Microsoft 365 and In-house Exchange 2010
andyo64 haha, guess what, I just started migrating a company to 365 from Exch10 on prem and they also have AADC running on 2008. So, perhaps it installs and works, but MS might not want us to do it for some good reason or they may not give support with that configuration. IDK. Always something to learn! About HCW, you have it exactly right! At some point in the HCW it will ask about AADC and you can select the option "I'll configure this on my own or later or something like that". When HCW is done, you should be ready to start moving mailboxes!2.5KViews0likes5CommentsRe: Minimal Hybrid to 365 Only
farismalaeb Thanks for the reply! I did read that! This is why I still have questions. Minimal Hybrid does not seem to create connectors or organizational sharing - so I'm not sure if it does other things in their place that need to be removed. This Microsoft Article mentions Remove-FederationTrust and Remove-OrganizationRelationship which I dont see discussed anywhere else - so I'm wondering about that too. Thanks!909Views0likes0CommentsRe: Preparing for Hybrid Configuration Wizzard with Microsoft 365 and In-house Exchange 2010
andyo64 One part of hybrid configuration is Azure Active Directory Connect. AADC can only be installed on Server 2012 or newer. However, it can synchronize AD running on any server version as long as the Domain Functional Level is 2003 or newer. Reference: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/hybrid/how-to-connect-install-prerequisites The other part of HCW is creating the hybrid Exchange configuration (duh!) and that can be done from any domain joined computer. Hope this helps!2.5KViews0likes7CommentsRe: Cant Migrate Two Mailboxes - too many transient failures
I've been struggling with almost the exact same issue - all but one mailbox moved successfully but this last one just wont go. The migration log shows normal progression and then CommunicationErrorTransientException. Once that occurs something breaks and we get the following message forever The job has been paused temporarily because the mailbox is locked. The job will attempt to continue again after <date/time> I did read somewhere else that moving to a different database before migrating to 365 can work. Have not tried it yet. If you do, please let us know how if that works!8.9KViews0likes0CommentsRemove Exchange 2010 Minimal Hybrid and go Cloud Only
Looking for help going from Exchange 2010 Minimal Hybrid to Cloud only. Situation No need for AD synchronization All mailboxes have been migrated to 365 via minimal hybrid config Next Steps This is where I'm looking for help. From here, what is the correct way to remove the hybrid configuration and decommission the Exchange 2010 server? The following is what I think I understand the process to be. Please confirm or correct Replace DNS records with 365 tenant settings Remove service connection point (Set-ClientAccessService -AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri $Null) Disable AADC and Turn off directory synchronization (Set-MsolDirSyncEnabled -EnableDirSync $false) Uninstall Exchange As far as I know Minimal Hybrid does not create connectors or organizational sharing, so these arnt there to remove. This MS Article mentions Remove-FederationTrust and Remove-OrganizationRelationship which I dont see discussed anywhere else - so I'm wondering about that too. I really appreciate any insights. Thanks!1.6KViews0likes1CommentRe: Remove On Premises exchange Hybrid and go fully Online
I have almost the same question as the OP, Keith Caines (well done starting conversation that lasted 2 years bud!). I am re-asking the question specific to Minimal Hybrid configuration Scenario: Exchange 2010 with Minimal Hybrid configuration No need for ongoing sync AD with Azure/365 All mailboxes have been moved to 365 At this point what is the process to retire Exchange safely and correctly? As I understand it... Replace DNS records with 365 tenant info Remove Service Connection Point from 2010 (AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri) Turn off directory synchronization Uninstall Exchange Am I missing anything? I'm trying to be careful because minimal hybrid does not have connectors and organizational sharing (IntraorganizationConnector & OrganizationRelationship) mentioned in the MS decom document. Also AAD Connect does not have "Exchange Hybrid" configured. One more thing, I'm not sure about is Remove-FederationTrust is not mentioned in the MS decom document and I dont know why. So there are a few differences from retiring a full hybrid deployment and I dont want to leave some mystery setting in there that could bite us later. I really appreciate whatever confirmation or advice you have! Thanks!5.9KViews0likes2Comments
