Optimizing Computer Energy Consumption
I recently implemented a solar power setup to reduce the energy consumption of my numerous computers. This solar system consists of a grid of solar panels, a battery, and an inverter that communicates data to a sophisticated mobile app which I find myself constantly monitoring. This discussion revolves around the impact of computer equipment and usage on power consumption. Through my research on this forum, I was particularly impressed by a thread about high disk usage on OneDrive and the detailed monitoring by user PilgrimLyieu using the Task Manager. I will be posing some basic questions to kick off the conversation. I initiated this discussion because I pondered whether the excessive number of open browsers and tabs on my computers affect power usage. Below is a list of electronics and applications that consume power. Let's explore ways in which they utilize energy, how we can track this power consumption (for me, through the Solar app), and strategies to minimize energy usage. Devices like: - Computers - Monitors - Drives - Applications - Background Apps - Emails - Browsers - Browser tabs - Open Windows - Audio levels - And more I am looking forward to engaging in a productive dialogue in this thread.108Views0likes0CommentsHow does Windows 11 perform for dual booting and sharing drives with Windows 10?
I have a customized Windows 10 Pro setup on my current machine, and I'm interested in adding Windows 11 Pro on a different SSD drive while ensuring both operating systems can access a third SSD drive. For instance, I plan to use Windows 10 for photo editing with files on drive 3, and Windows 11 for video editing with the same drive 3 files. Is it possible to achieve this without encountering issues such as 'drive access denied' when accessing drive 3 from either Windows 10 or Windows 11? Additionally, do you have any other tips or recommendations for this setup? Thank you.130Views0likes0CommentsDisable autofill feature on the webmail login page
I am currently experiencing an issue with my local internet service provider's web-based email account. Previously, when logging in, the email address field would autofill upon clicking. However, this feature has stopped working recently, requiring me to manually type in my email address every time. This issue persists across both Edge and Chrome browsers, despite no apparent changes to my settings. One suggestion was that my Bitdefender antivirus software may have altered something, though I am unsure. I plan to reach out to Bitdefender for clarification. Any insights or solutions to this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, D.132Views0likes0CommentsOneDrive: Understanding the Presence of Multiple Folders in Explorer
I understand that many people have concerns about using OneDrive, but for me, having two PCs and a laptop means I need access to my files and emails across all devices. Fortunately, I have discovered a way to prevent my desktop from being duplicated on devices with different screen sizes and resolutions, thanks to OneDrive. However, OneDrive presents an issue where I see two separate file branches on my primary PC, each containing various folders. This arrangement, with folders like "John - Personal" and "John Chapman," results in multiple downloads, documents, pictures, and other folders that can be confusing. To simplify this system, I mainly work with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files, in addition to using Outlook for managing emails from two different accounts. These are the files that I want to access on any of my three devices. I am unsure if this setup is causing duplication or if it's just a matter of display selection that I have not yet figured out how to manage. I hope I have explained my issue clearly, but it's challenging to convey all the details without showing more of my folder content. Thank you for your help.153Views0likes0CommentsBattery Usage not Tracked in the Settings Application
I noticed a strange issue when checking the Power & Battery settings on Windows 11. Despite using my laptop while it's plugged in most of the time, all the battery usage metrics show 0% and no apps are listed as using the battery. Surprisingly, this problem does not occur on another laptop with the same Windows 11 version. Any insights on why this might be happening? Your assistance is greatly appreciated.194Views0likes0Comments"Modification of Onedrive File Path"
Hello everyone, I need some guidance. My Outlook pst file in MS Office 2016 is currently stored within the Onedrive framework. Outlook indicates that it can be found under C:\Users\...(me)...\Onedrive\... Interestingly, this structure is also visible in Explorer under "Onedrive - Personal". The issue is that the pst file displayed within this structure is incorrect and outdated. How can I align and resolve the discrepancy between these two structures? I appreciate any assistance you can provide on this matter.185Views0likes0CommentsLocal Accounts Win 11 removed links
Hi guys, I feel that I need to ask for your help again. Two nights ago the pc was running perfectly. I turned it off and went to bed. Next morning my wife put the pc in to read some news on her account. It was was not showing, nor is my daughters. My account is the only one visible on boot up yet the other two accounts are still there, in user accounts. My wife thinks there might have been an upgrade, not so sure as I for a small bundle only today. If I click on the three dots on my account box, I get switch user and there are the two missing accounts but the normal log in (by names) is not there. I get my avatar, my local account and in a microsoft window. So where the heck are my other two accounts. Everything is running nominally except for the two 'invisible' accounts. ????219Views0likes0CommentsHow do I burn an ISO image to USB and make it bootable?
I recently tried to make a bootable USB, but ran into some problems. I had an ISO file and originally wanted to directly copy ISO to USB drive, but then I found that the USB would not be bootable on my PC. I knew that I must have done something wrong, and that I might need special steps to make a bootable disk. Does anyone know the correct method or recommend some useful tools to correctly burn ISO image to a USB on Windows 10? If you have experience, please share it, I really need help, thank you!49KViews0likes15Comments
