Re: Experiencing terrible performance in a Teams meeting, with 5+ people & plugged into a 4K screen
mikepiff Hell yes. It's staggering that in this day and age, the most used business app cannot "cope" with 4k monitors. I have tried everything and am now resigning myself to the replacement of my lovely expensive dual 4k monitors with dual FHD simply because Teams cannot cope. Advice I have found on the forums was first that the docking station connection via USB C was the cause. So I swapped out, and connected directing to screens, bypassing the Dock. NO difference. Made all the config changes like Disable GPU hardware acceleration and still no joy. Set both monitors to 1920x1080 resolution and STILL no joy. Finally found that using only ONE screen via HDMI direct laptop to screen and also only using the laptop to hold the Teams room meeting and then sharing the 27" monitor as needed, finally meant performance was satisfactory. It sucks that the only way forward is to dump quality screens for basic FHD simply because Teams dictates this. Sorry I don't have better news for you but I have really tried everything people have suggested to alleviate the issue but my findings are that 4k and Teams just do not marry up, in any way, shape or form.1.2KViews1like0CommentsRe: External users can't open documents in desktop application
Hi MagnusGoksoyrOLDProfile, All users includes people from various companies that all also have their won SharePoint. The problem for us all is that the HOST of the documents in SharePoint can share and the guests can edit but they can only edit in browser, not in desktop app which the host CAN. We have tried various methods between the companies and the result is always the same, the guest can never open the documents in the desktop app, only browser. So far this is true with 3 different external organisations of reasonable size (e.g. banking institutions). Thanks!11KViews2likes4CommentsWord's Open list displaying Document Title
Hi all, I am exhausted looking for the answer to this, hence posting my issue here. When you have Word open and use the open option, the list of documents that displays use a mix of file name and document title name. Some of the documents that have document titles, still use the file name in the open screen , yet other documents just display the document title. It seems random but it makes it impossible to know which document is which. My questions are; How can I make word simply display the file names? Why on earth does it display document title anyway? I can't share a screen shot as the information is protected. But I can have multiple documents with the same name appearing because the system is using the document title, which was set in the template the document was based on but the title was not updated. either way, you can have multiple versions of the same document with the same title and its the file name that captures the version usually anyway. Please put me out of my misery and tell me there's a way to set the list to use file name only? Thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice (please don't tell me how to open via explorer - I am sufficiently savvy in use of office/windows despite being a mac user lol.... i am referring to how to solve this in Windows). My guess, is that if a document was based on a template that had a default document title entered, then the open document list will ALWAYS use Document Title in place of the file name. If that's right, I'd love to know what Brainiac came up with that and why!2.5KViews2likes1CommentRe: External users can't open documents in desktop application
Mas000 Thanks. I cannot test myself as it always worked for me even when using my mac, presumably because it uses the same Office login. So i have farmed this out to a colleague to check. I;ll report back when we have verified the solution!24KViews0likes0CommentsRe: External users can't open documents in desktop application
Have spent EONS trying to figure this out and its now 2022 and still external users cannot use the Desktop App when we give editing access for folders and documents. Its crazy to me, such a glaring hole that has been mentioned way back to 2018 based on my research. Stephen Rice any news on this being addressed? We are a rapidly growing organisation and do a LOT of collaboration on documents with clients and right now, have to revert to passing documents via email back and forth as users always want to edit in desktop app. This is cumbersome and nuts to have to do in this day and age. Please please PLEASE???24KViews2likes2Comments
