Re: Outlook - Spellcheck moved from right click to left click
Megan4123, completely agree with how horrible this is. But it's even worse for us heavy typers: the Menu Key on the keyboard (or the somewhat obtuse Shift+F10 for laptop users without a Menu Key) does the same as the right-click at the current keyboard cursor position. This means, I never need to take my hands off the keyboard to fix spelling errors with everything EXCEPT NEW OUTLOOK. In New Outlook, have to go to the mouse, and then weirdly Left Click. UI Standard: Left-click is to select (or click if it's a button or hyperlink). Double-click performs the default action. Right-click brings up the list of options (action/verbs) for that current context. There is NO UI LOGIC for left-clicking on a misspelled word to fix it. Worse, this actually PREVENTS using left-click as intended: to position cursor and/or select the text in the word. But to those criticizing Outlook, please be aware that as of mid-2024 this problem is limited to NEW Outlook and Web-based Outlook. Classic Desktop Outlook still supports the right-click standard just fine. I will not switch to New Outlook until MS fixes this failing. Does anyone have a link to a User Voice feature request to get this fixed? I will gladly go and upvote it.2.7KViews2likes0CommentsRe: Using Teams with multiple organizations
Tech_Dad_Tom, you absolutely can now add multiple orgs (not even limited to 2). Microsoft removed this limitation quite a while ago (in 2023, I believe, but not certain on exact timing). To do it: Click your account icon in the upper right -- title bar, just to the left of the minimize button Click on "Add another account" Specify your tenant email address (can also add a personal account to use in Teams Personal, but that's a different system that has been supported for several years) Then, whenever you want to switch between them, just go to that same account icon and select the account you want to use This was one of my biggest complaints with Teams until they added this. Teams is so much better and more capable now than any of the other similar options. It combines the best of Slack, Zoom, OneDrive, Outlook (minus email), Skype Phone Calling (VoIP), SMS/MMS text messaging, SharePoint all into one easy-to-use app. It does far more than any of the alternatives, while remaining just as easy or easier to use. It still has issues for sure, and I post my feedback for improvements frequently (e.g., Planner doesn't allow pasting screen captures or images into comments, when making a phone call from Teams it always opens the window to almost fill the screen and doesn't remember my resize, and a few other minor annoyances). But relative to the competition? There is none. The last big problem with Teams for me (other than the Planner issue noted above, which is really more of a Planner problem) was the difficulty external parties had joining recurring Teams meetings, but Microsoft fixed that late in 2024 too.873Views0likes1CommentRe: REQUEST - Be able to Paste images into Notes and Comments field!
Yeah, looks like MS removed it. I don't understand that -- they generally leave requests up, even ones they don't plan to do, so not sure what to make of that. Fortunately, there's a new version that had already gained enough votes to be on p. 2 by the time I saw it: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/6becaa63-e3f3-ee11-a73d-6045bd841c15347Views0likes0CommentsRe: REQUEST - Be able to Paste images into Notes and Comments field!
MS deleted that Feedback item after it reached Page 1 of all pending Planner feature requests. So frustrating. As we're gaining ground in showing how badly people want it, they just remove the request. There's a new one though that already had a good number of votes from others when I first saw it: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/6becaa63-e3f3-ee11-a73d-6045bd841c1592Views0likes0CommentsRe: Microsoft 365 Failed to parse element: VersionOverrides on Cloud Server
I see the Bing Maps add-in (thanks for the link to reach and remove it), but not one that matches "Suggested Meetings." Like the original poster and others, I had errors with the exact same two: Bing Maps and Suggested Meetings. Following your guidance, I was able to fix the Bing Maps error, but still seeing a constant stream of Event ID 300 "Failed to parse element: VersionOverrides" with a DisplayName of "Suggested Meetings." Any idea how to fix that one?1.6KViews3likes0CommentsRe: Outlook - Spellcheck moved from right click to left click
DrenCrossley, is the link to upvote this fix broken for you too? It looks like Microsoft removed that link. Or did they fix this? It's still not working for me in New Outlook, but maybe it is for some, or it's been added as an option and I just don't know how to enable it? If this is still a problem, the next most up-voted version of this I can find is this one, with a mere 15 upvotes at the time of this post: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/5d905769-b166-ee11-a81c-0022484e54532KViews1like0CommentsRe: REQUEST - Be able to Paste images into Notes and Comments field!
AndyRHa, we finally made it back to the first page of most requested feature changes to Planner, but we're only 1 vote ahead of the top item on the second page (so could easily fall back to page 2), and only 7 below the next up, more frequently requested feature. If this is still important to you, like many of us, please consider voting for it at: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/c1b3719a-6620-ee11-a81d-0022484cae1d324Views0likes1CommentRe: REQUEST - Be able to Paste images into Notes and Comments field!
JeanBLM, this request currently sits at the top of the second page of requested features for Planner. It's been rising steadily to the paint that we're only 3 votes away from moving to page 1, overtaking the bottom item there, where it gets tougher for the Microsoft Planner dev team to ignore this. Please consider voting for it and getting your colleagues to vote for it here: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/c1b3719a-6620-ee11-a81d-0022484cae1d576Views1like0CommentsRe: Outlook - Spellcheck moved from right click to left click
But this has no effect on New Outlook (not to be confused with Classic Outlook, which still supports right-click). New Outlook broke this and only supports left-click with no apparent way to fix. Worse, from my perspective, this also means that the menu key on the keyboard doesn't do anything. This means you MUST use the mouse to fix typos while you type, which seems insane to me. You should be able to correct a typo without taking your hands off the keyboard. If you don't like this change or perhaps wish to prevent this spreading to the rest of Office, please upvote: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/a64c0d46-4414-ee11-a81c-000d3a7a48db Sadly, this only has a few dozen upvotes. Maybe most users disagree with us and this doesn't bother them. Or, maybe it's just that it wasn't a problem until New Outlook started to take over in the past few weeks, so the number of votes doesn't truly reflect the magnitude of the problem. If the latter, then it will take a lot of us upvoting this to "catch up" to other issues, some of which have been bothering users for years and had a long time to collect upvotes.2.1KViews1like1CommentRe: REQUEST - Be able to Paste images into Notes and Comments field!
sergio_cascales, since our last exchange we've made progress getting this request to near the first page. We only need 13 more votes to reach page one, at which point it becomes tougher for Microsoft to ignore it. Please consider upvoting and getting your colleagues to upvote this (and possibly adding constructive comments) at: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/cd2c8f5e-5421-ee11-a81d-0022484cae1d837Views1like0CommentsRe: Outlook - Spellcheck moved from right click to left click
DrenCrossley, Found a link to a request for this feature. Let's upvote it. Right now, it actually doesn't have that many votes, so perhaps those of us who can't believe MS would break a standard UI feature that's been there for at least two decades and still remains in all the other Office and Windows apps are in the minority. But let's upvote it and hopefully we'll at least get this added as an option. https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/a64c0d46-4414-ee11-a81c-000d3a7a48db2.4KViews1like0CommentsRe: REQUEST - Be able to Paste images into Notes and Comments field!
00thomson, we may be getting closer to MS doing this. We're halfway up the second page of hottest feature requests to MS. Just 21 more votes (7 less than a few weeks ago even as other requests also received up-votes) to reach page 1 of their requests. If this still matters to you, and you've not already voted, please consider voting for it and getting your colleagues to vote for it here: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/cd2c8f5e-5421-ee11-a81d-0022484cae1d There is no guarantee that just because it reaches page 1 they'll address it, but it significantly increases the likelihood, especially if our comments make it clear how and why we need it. Probably helps to keep them constructive and actionable too.1.2KViews0likes0CommentsRe: REQUEST - Be able to Paste images into Notes and Comments field!
The feature request is working its way up the list of Planner requests for Microsoft. Just another 28 votes and this makes it to the first page. If you agree with this please upvote. https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/cd2c8f5e-5421-ee11-a81d-0022484cae1d Also, if we put some pressure on the Teams group, they may be able to push the Planner developers to up the priority on this. Here's a link to this request within Teams: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/c1b3719a-6620-ee11-a81d-0022484cae1d Please upvote both of those if this feature matters to you. Also, if you have the time, consider adding a comment for how this matters to you and why (but if no time, just hit the thumbs up button to vote for it). Comments both help MS understand what we're asking (so be clear what you want) and help them see the passion for the feature need.1.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: REQUEST - Be able to Paste images into Notes and Comments field!
For everyone who is looking for this, there is a request for this feature on the Planner Feedback page. It's currently at the bottom of page 2 (so not terribly far behind the top requests), but with a few more votes, it could easily climb to page 1 and be harder for them to ignore. Please go and vote for: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/cd2c8f5e-5421-ee11-a81d-0022484cae1d1.5KViews0likes0CommentsRe: REQUEST - Be able to Paste images into Notes and Comments field!
Yeah, absolutely agree on the importance and the use-case that requires it: visual aids for task feedback. In our case, for software development, we need to include screen shots with almost every comment. The net effect of this being missing from Planner is even worse for us in terms of usage. Because our users require this ability, they won't use Planner, and w/o Planner, that means they need something else, and most of those other tools link well with competing systems to Teams (like Jira in place of Planner and Slack in place of Teams and Confluence over OneDrive), so this failure prevents us from moving everyone over to Teams and OneDrive. It's costing MS a lot of potential license sales from our organization. Worst of all is how close Planner is to being amazing. And Teams Chat already does this PERFECTLY. The ONLY feature Planner is lacking from our perspective (I know other users may have other needs) is the ability to paste images into the initial description and into subsequent comments. And if I had to pick one, I'd pick comments over the initial description (because you could always just add comments to your own Task even if you're the one creating it, but no work-around if you can't paste them into comments).1.2KViews0likes0CommentsRe: REQUEST - Be able to Paste images into Notes and Comments field!
It seems like Microsoft really screwed up the architecture of this, using a text field instead of a field that can hold images and other non-text formatting and objects. I believe they carried this design over from the text fields associated with Tasks in the very powerful Microsoft Project. But where that was acceptable in Project due to its timeline and % complete focus, it's completely broken in a Planner app, which is designed from the start to work like a Scrum or Kanban Board. This is why their first step to addressing this was to add the ability to include formatting (Bold, Italic, etc.) into the main description field, BUT they still haven't made any updates to the Comments fields. I think they must still be years away from actually fixing this critical deficiency compared with competing solutions like Asana, Trello, Jira, and every other Scrum or Kanban style project management system on the market.2.6KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Edge forcing switch profiles when using any .local domain or IP address
SeidChr, I'm not surprised that the key doesn't already exist in the Registry, but I don't even see that branch (no Edge inside Microsoft), nor in the HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft branch. Are you sure that's the right branch? UPDATE: adding that branch and key did seem to fix the problem, so I believe that is correct! I'm surprised that it takes a whole new branch just to block this. Is it possible that there is another place to put that key in an existing branch that also works?1.7KViews0likes2CommentsRe: OneDrive date modified without changing the file
While I agree that MS did not give enough care to protecting Modified Date in OneDrive (I too use it as a form of version checking and to find recently edited files, and it's way too easy to accidentally make a change and lose the real Modified date forever), I tried and was not able to reproduce the problem you described: I created a new Word document on a local drive (not on OneDrive). I made changes and saved it, confirmed the Modified Date reflected the time of the changes. Then I opened it a few minutes later without saving any changes and only the Accessed time stamp changed in file Properties, not Modified. Then, I copied the file to OneDrive. Opened it in Word again by double-clicking from Explorer in the OneDrive folder. I had not turned off Autosave, so it was even set to Autosave, which will provide the most aggressive updates to the Modified value. I moved the cursor around in the Word document and made various selections, but didn't change anything. Then, I closed the file and checked the results. The file's Created time and date showed the time I created it on OneDrive (not the original creation date), which is how all MS OS's have treated Created since the DOS days -- always reflects the time it was added to a new volume/drive. The Accessed time showed the time when I last used the file. But the Modified date still showed the time stamp of the last actual changes to the file before I moved it to OneDrive.23KViews0likes1Comment
