Does anyone have any information on licensing the new Exchange Server SE for customers who have M365/O365 E3/E5 purchased via CSP but do not have Extended Use Rights (i.e., no EA/EAS -> no on-prem Office server licenses included)? Specifically: Is it enough to license Exchange Server SE per node only, or Do customers also need to purchase Exchange Server CALs per user (even if they already have M365 E3/E5)? I’ve spoken with multiple licensing distributors and a Microsoft partner contact, but I still haven’t been able to get a definitive answer. According to a comment from Jeremy Carlson and Microsoft’s licensing documentation, certain licenses appear to include "CAL-equivalency rights". Can anyone here confirm whether these CAL-equivalency rights cover access to Exchange Server SE in the CSP E3/E5 (no Extended Use Rights) scenario? licensing reference: https://www.microsoft.com/licensing/terms/product/CALandMLEquivalencyLicenses/MCA#clause-2165-h3-140Views0likes0CommentsWindows 11 PRO OEM on HP Devices
Hy, I have a kind of problem, our HP devices are shipped with a Windows 11 Pro OEM. We have Enterprise Mobility + Security E5 licenses which should support the upgrade process from W11 Pro to the Enterprise version, but this is not happening. Requirements: Ensure that your device is running a supported version of Windows Pro and that the user is assigned an appropriate EMS license (e.g., E3 or E5). The device must also be joined to Azure AD or hybrid Azure AD joined. The requirements are fulfilled, but still no activation after deployment using APv2. Does anyone have any ideas?Solved428Views0likes8CommentsTeams Rooms Limitations
I set up 2 Teams Rooms for one of my clients and in learning how to set up and use a Teams Room and train the client, there seems to be a LOT left to be desired with Teams Room, especially for the price of the Teams Room Pro license! The Teams Room includes an Audio Conference license, but if you want to use it you have to send the invite AS the room. So users needing this would need to be a delegated admin of the room resource. And who wants to send out an invite from "Main Conference Room on behalf of Jane" to their customers? This means each user needs their own Audio Conference license* to send out their own invites and then add the Teams room. What is the point of the room having an audio conference license? If you add a Teams Room to your invite, the attendees are shown the location of the meeting as that conference room, the only clue it is an online/teams meeting is the Teams info in the invite's message body. Then when the attendee gets an Outlook reminder for the meeting it actually shows the location as the conference room NOT a Teams meeting. No minutes are included so you can't actually use the Teams Room as a conference phone unless you add minutes. I would think for the cost of Teams Room Pro it would include a Teams Phone with Calling Plan license. So if you just want to have a conference call you have to setup a whole Teams meeting and then just use the audio portion. This has been a very difficult journey. Explaining all of this to my client after convincing them to spend a good amount of money on a Teams Room setup (equipment cost, to be fair, is not a Microsoft problem) and then continually telling them the limitations and how they need to spend more money for additional licenses to get the features they want is not a good solution. For those looking to sell a Teams Room, do the research first and be warned it is NOT a cheap or easy solution! *Thankfully the Audio Conference license is now free, that's a big thank you out to Microsoft for that!2KViews1like1CommentAzure Devops Pipeline for Power Platform solution : Tenant to Tenant
I have a query related to Azure Devops Pipeline. Is it possible to move form one tenant to another tenant. Is it possible to move canvas app solution using Azure Devop Pipelines. If yes, I am using Sharepoint lists. Can this be moved, as it wont be the part of solution, should it be done manually? I am also using environment variables, How will this be mapped in the receiver tenant using pipelines. I have few solutions that i need to move from one solution to another every sprint. So what will be the suitable plan/license for it. Can you please share relevant documents or steps or related videos if any regarding this.227Views0likes1CommentUser CAL or RDS CAL for this kind of access?
My client need a VM with Windows Server 2022 installed. I've tell him to provide a Windows Server 2022 Standard 16 core installation but i'm confused with CAL license. The VM will start with an autologon on a user and then my customer will connect via RDP to that session (same user that starts in autologon) to manage the installed application (a SCADA automation software). Do I require a RDP CAL or a simple USER CAL? Thanks296Views0likes2CommentsSQL Server license per core vs Intel Speed Select Technology
Microsoft SQL Server is licenced by core. Some Intel processors have Speed Select Technology that enables for controling the number of cores that are actually used. For example, Intel® Xeon® Gold 6548Y+ Processor wich has 32 cores can work with only 16 active cores. Does this affect licensing price? Can the setup be treated as a 16 core server?590Views0likes1CommentChange from Pro to Pro N?
I have a problem, after moving to the AAD, we have a few Windows devices that were upgraded to Windows 11 Pro in advance for enrollment via autopilot, this was done at that time with the generic Pro key "3V66T", as there were no license keys yet (accounting problem etc.) Now we have bought Windows 11 Pro N licenses for the remaining devices, as we are a non-profit company...now of course these cannot be installed because the Windows edition does not match. Is there any way to change the Windows edition from Pro to Pro N without a reinstallation or in-place upgrade? According to our dealer, we can no longer return or convert the keys kind regards747Views0likes0CommentsWhy is a fresh Enterprise Evaluation installation license expired?
Hello, normally whenever I would install the Windows Enterprise Evaluation it would automatically activate the 90-day license. This has changed however as this time I did a fresh install (already tried both Windows 10 and 11) I get the Windows License is expired message in the bottom-right corner of the screen. The System->Activation menu says We can't activate Windows on this device right now. You can try activating again later or ... Error code: 0xC004C032. When I run slmgr /ato to activate I sometimes (not sure what the reason for change is - maybe this changed after I tried to change the product key to what I found supposedly is a "generic Enterprise key for recovery") get the same error as above - 0xC004C032 (running slui on that returns The activation server reported that new time based activation is not available) or 0x80072F8F (A security error occured). I read that syncing the date/time might be an issue but as far as I can tell its synced correctly with time.windows.com Any ideas about what the issue could be? Or has something changed in how activation works for evaluation distributions? Any input is appreciated Thanks10KViews1like15CommentsCan't assign direct routing phone number to resource account using Microsoft 365 E5 Developer licens
Recently you can no longer assign a direct routing telephone number to a resource with an E5 developer license. Unfortunately, I don't have a Microsoft Teams Phone resource account license available. That's why I can't test all the possibilities of the auto attendant. The following error is reported: User '13fcea9c-1968-4531-bb3a-dc660412d6f8' lacks appropriate licenses to assign a 'DirectRouting' number. Licensed is "Teams Phone". What can I do?1.4KViews0likes0Comments
