Unable to delete "new menu" items

Hi,

 

How do i delete items from the "new menu" for document libraries?

 

If i add a new excel template for example and then click the edit new menu and then "Delete" in the three dots for this template, then it pops up a confirmation dialog. Then i hit yes and it just closes the right side toolbar so i cant click save and hence the item isn't deleted.

 

So, how do i delete items that i've created in this list?

 

I do no use content types for this library.

    I'm having the same issue. Using Sharepoint 365 on Microsoft edge current update.

    kaaremai I have the same issue - and the response from Microsoft received 29 March 2022 doesn't say when it will be fixed...

    "Several customers already reported it and our Engineering Team already enforced HotFix. No ETA was given on how long it will take for the fix to be applied on all tenants"

     

    There is no work-around either other than making it not visible to users. Guess we just have to wait...

      Ryan_work do you have a link to the response you received from Microsoft about this glitch? 

       

      Also as far as a workaround are you referring to changing the templates permissions?

    I am having the same issue as a site administrator, any ideas?

    I am also having this issue. If I select "Delete it will delete the underlying file, but the menu item remains. I can uncheck it to it won't show up for the user, but not being able to remove it completely will create unnecessary clutter and confusion.

        After discussing with our IT service desk, we thought we had this fixed. They gave these instructions to follow. This managed to remove the previously deleted items in the new menu, but on retesting by adding a template and trying to delete we still had the issue that we can't delete an item from the new menu.

        Inorder to resolve the issue on delete some file could you please clean cache by following below steps:
        1- On your computer, open Chrome.
        2- At the top right, click More .
        3- Click More tools Clear browsing data.
        4- At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
        5- Next to “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files,” check the boxes.
        6- Click Clear data.
        After that can you also open the page on incognito mode?
        The steps are:
        1- On your computer, open Chrome.
        2- At the top right, click More More and then New Incognito Window.
        3- A new window appears. In the top corner, check for the Incognito icon Incognito.
        If you see the message "Taking screenshots isn't allowed by the app or your organization," open the webpage in a normal Chrome tab.

        In addition to this, the Excel templates that we have loaded will not open from the new menu in Teams but will if we use SharePoint. Word templates are working in both instances.
