Permissions query on Teams Sharepoint
I have a teams sharepoint site.
I have a created a permissions group with "Read" Access.
I also have an office 365 group (which I use for audience targetting)
I add that group as a member of the Permissions group and assumed then that all members of that group could access the site (I've done this before but on a communications site not a teams site)
But they couldn't ! What am I doing wrong? or is this not possible. I even tried adding one user directly into the new permissions group but they couldn't access the site either?
Is there some other setting I need to update?
TIA
As per my understanding:
- You first created a "SharePoint" group in team site
- Then added Office 365 group inside the "SharePoint" group as member
Is this understanding correct?
Anyway, when you create a new SharePoint group in your site, it does not get permissions on your SharePoint site automatically, you have to grant the permissions to your SharePoint group manually. You have to make sure you have granted permissions to the group correctly.
Follow below steps after creating a new SharePoint group:
- Go to SharePoint Site Permissions page. Generally URL of page is like: <siteUrl>/_layouts/15/user.aspx
- Select Permissions tab and click on Grant Permissions option:
- Search for your SharePoint group name, select required permissions level and click on Share button:
- Then add Office 365 group inside your SharePoint site group.
