Open new tab instead of same window in sharepoint online

I'am using sharepoint online and creating a communication page.I would like a new tab to open when i click on a link instead of opening in the same window. Is this functionality not available.

BerniceSIt's my belief that Microsoft has a secret internal road map for SharePoint, in which it will reach parity with HTML 4 functionality in approximately 2074.  Assuming there are no delays.

    Is this update available in SharePoint on-prem as well? I need to find a solution to open links in a Hero web part in a new tab.
