Import excel into existing list (with data already in it)
- Mar 25, 2021
RRMX01 if you go to Edit in grid view on your list you can paste in data from an excel spreadsheet.

BenHoffmann Have you tried with Power Automate? it should also be possible to do a for each loop

BenHoffmann yes it can be done with Power Automate, but depeding on the number of Excfel rows to import it might be quite slow.

Microsoft Power Automate Community Super User - BenHoffmannAug 25, 2022Copper ContributorI've heard that it can be done in Power Automate. It may just depend whether you're more comfortable using PA's GUI to construct the transfer of data, or writing SQL in Access. I prefer the latter.
- BenHoffmannAug 25, 2022Copper ContributorYes, you can selectively link to specific SP lists from Access. You don't have to connect to all of the lists in your SP site. However, as mentioned in my previous reply, if an SP list contains a lookup column or a Person column, Access will bring in additional list references (as tables).

iamhuman2414 can I do the same with an Access database that didn't import everything over? I want to get the missing items without losing or messing with what's already there. Thanks in advance.

Rache2195 Totally agree! We generally try not to let our SP lists get that big. We try to export them out by years/quarters/months and save the export within the site (then delete the data from the list) so they can still reference the data but it doesn't slow their list down. We only had to keep one list that large because we were using a list with a PowerApp to while we had an application outage.
- Rache2195Apr 21, 2022Copper Contributoriamhuman2414 this is a bit off topic, but do you find working with that many rows in a SP list is unwieldy? I have lists nearing 10k lines that are a pain to work with since only 5k lines will render at a time and that takes a while.

yyarin104 I'm new in Power Automate, would you be able to send some quick instructions on how to do this?? I have hundreds of thousands of records from Excel to import to a Sharepoint list. Thanks!
