How to Stop SharePoint Lists from opening in Microsoft Lists?
- Sep 19, 2023
Hi Kathryn Birstein,
By default, SharePoint lists will open in the Microsoft Lists app. According to the SharePoint admin message centre, Site owners can navigate to the Navigation Elements settings page and configure a new setting called “Lists in Sites”, which will enable lists to always open in their associated SharePoint site.
you can try to change this by using classic SharePoint setting, by navigating https://{tenantname}.sharepoint.com/sites/{sitename}/_layouts/15/navoptions.aspx
or going to the SharePoint Site classic settings and changing Navigation elements. Site owners can navigate to the Navigation Elements settings page and configure a new setting called “Lists in Sites”, which will enable lists to always open in their associated SharePoint site.

HelloABTOUCC ,
I was afraid of your answer, thank you for pin-pointing it so precisely.
I tried so many different things that I lost track of when the issue started in our case.
lets hope that there will be another user that can pin point it as precisely as you.
If we see a big time gap then is possible that this issue will affect other users without any warning, if we have a pattern and is affecting everyone starting from the same date 13th-16th May 2024 then we know that it was triggered by a controlled parameter set by Microsoft.
Johnny0000 - Yes, I first noticed this all started happening to me as well around May 13th. I had been out of office for the two weeks prior and came back to some (not all) of my lists using the Integrated LISTS App view within SP. It totally messed up the formatting of my LookUp fields, but clearing the cache on Edge thankfully fixed that part. Didn't help restore them to the SP UE though. More and more of my lists started switching over the following few days.

Hello AmberSchiffer and ABTOUCC ,
Unfortunately I have some bad news for all of us.
You can check the following link for yourselves but it seems that for others this issue arise even earlier than May 13th,
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/sharepoint-list-view-ui-is-changed-to-microsoft/3e45ff3b-e078-4599-920d-25e2f36d584f?page=1
Also I managed to find a list with all the updates that Microsoft has done for SharePoint and guess when when the update for the month of May has been done?
"drums sound......"
Here you can find the link for this as well.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/sharepoint-updates
So given this new information I would assume that if they will not fix this with the update from June then most likely in June we will have other people where this issue will manifest, all of the updates in the past months took place in the second week of each month.
