portfolio analysis in project for the web
Dears
good day
we use project for the web for our projects .
now decided to manage the portfolio too .
Is there any possibility to have portfolio analysis in project for the web ?
As far as I figured out , the portfolio analysis tab is available in project online, not in project for the web .
Regards
Mahnaz
Hello mahnazansari ,
This feature is only in Project Online as you have seen, it is not in Project for the web unfortunately.

Dear Paul_Mather
thanks for your reply.
Since Microsoft is moving from project online to project for the web, can we expect the feature will be available in near future in project for the web.

- mahnazansariCopper Contributormy other question is that if it's possible to connect project for the web to project online?
if so, then projects' information could be transmitted easily to project online in order to prepare the portfolio dashboardHello mahnazansari ,
There is no connection between Project for the web and Project Online, the data is separate. You could look to build a custom sync process if you wanted too or build a custom Portfolio Analysis type feature if that is what you need in Project for the web. I'm not sure this is on the roadmap for Project for the web.

Paul_Mather Thank you.

Project for the Web has a long ways to go before it can ever be an enterprise project management application, so don't hold your breath waiting for a Portfolio Analysis tool to be added to Project for the Web. If you really need to use Portfolio Analysis, I would recommend you abandon Project for the Web and start using Project Online or Microsoft Project Server instead. Hope this helps.- mahnazansariCopper ContributorDear @Dale
many thanks for your reply . - Karen_ChappellCopper ContributorHi Dale,
I came across this post and have a similar need and another question. We are using Project Online's Project Center for enterprise projects. I have also introduced Project for the Web for use by project managers for projects that are lightweight, collaborative. The main reason we continue to use Project Online is for the Project Center capability - easy dashboard across projects. I was hoping to soon have everyone use Project for the Web, as it is easier for people to use but it is lacking in many areas still. To be honest, Project for the Web and its evolution is so slow - new enhancements move at a snail pace. One Question (out of so many) - Is it possible to use Power BI reporting to mesh data from both DataVerse(Project for the Web) and Project Online into one dashboard? Second question - how can you add a standard column in Project for the Web that itwill carry through for ALL project created. (for example, Business Unit - with dropdown values). So, that I can report on projects by Business Unit, for example.
I am new to this community, so let me know if I not using this forum correctly. Thank you.Karen_Chappell -- To the best of my knowledge, I am not aware of any way to create a Power BI report that collects data from Project Online AND Project for the Web. Also, regarding the creation of enterprise custom columns in Project for the Web, the application does not yet offer this feature. Keep in mind that it is a low-end tool that is intended for small and simple projects; and it is NOT a full enterprise project management tool like Project Online. Sorry, but hope this helps.
