Outlook - cannot add Google G Suite account - javascript disabled?
I am trying to add Google G Suite account to Outlook. When I enter the G Suite account email it shows the Google login screen.
Then I get a question by Google to choose "Organizational G Suite account" or "Individual Google Account".
I select "Organizational G Suite account" and then I get "Couldn’t sign you in" screen with this message:
"The browser you’re using doesn’t support JavaScript, or has JavaScript turned off.
To keep your Google Account secure, try signing in on a browser that has JavaScript turned on. Learn more
If you continue to have problems signing in, please contact your administrator."
If I click on "Learn more" I get an Internet Explorer 11 browser opened with the page. This makes me think that Outlook is opening the sign-in screen in IE 11 browser control and somehow Javascript is disabled.
I am using Outlook v. 2203 (16.0.15028.20178) on Windows 11.
Any ideas on how to fix this.
It was working for me for more than a year. I don't have problem with other G Suite accounts where I am not asked to choose between "Organizational" and "Individual" account, but this account is important to me as it is my company account.
The same happens on a brand new laptop I installed with fresh Windows 11 / Outlook v. 2203 (16.0.15028.20178).
I would really appreciate any help.

I did the Registry fix mentioned several times in this post, but every time I started Outlook the OUTLOOK.EXE value changed back to 10001.
After many hours of frustration I stumbled on this page which gave me a clue what was needed:
https://help.politemail.com/help/to-use-politemail-you-must-restart-outlook
Basically you have to change the permissions for the OUTLOOK.EXE value so Outlook can no longer change it back to 10001.
So the full instructions for the Registry fix are:
1. Close Outlook.
2. Click the Windows icon, type regedit and press the Enter key. This should run Registry Editor.
3. Navigate to the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION
4. Right-click OUTLOOK.EXE > Modify....5. Set Base to Decimal and change Value data to 11001 (or if that doesn't work, try 11000). Click OK.
6. Ensure OUTLOOK.EXE is highlighted, then go to Edit > Permissions....
7. Click Advanced > Disable inheritance.8. A Block Inheritance window will appear. Click Convert inherited permissions into explicit permission on this object.
9. Click OK to return to the first permissions window.10. Select your current (i.e. logged in) user account in the list at the top.
11. Switch off Full Control, but leave Read switched on.
12. Click OK.
Now when you try adding the Gmail or Google Workspace account in Outlook, after entering the email address you should be asked to re-enter the password instead of being told your browser is insecure, then you can allow Outlook to access your Gmail account.
If needed, you can undo the permissions change by doing steps 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7, then clicking Advanced > Enable inheritance.
Hopefully this helps a few people.
EDIT: Bear in mind that you can only add one Gmail or Google Workspace account to an Outlook profile. To add further accounts you have to set up additional separate Outlook profiles. If you try to add a second account to a profile, you'll get the message about your browser not being secure all over again.
EDIT 2: If the value 11001 doesn't work, try 11000.

I don't have 'Microsoft Apps & Services' in the list. Probably that has to be linked somewhere else first....

I tried the three regedits and they helped with one gw/gworkspace account. However, still couldn't get my regular personal gmail account connected. I also looked all through the suggested Google account settings changes, etc..
Finally fixed it:
Opened outllook for the millionth time to be prompted to setup the new gmail account > typed in gmail email/user id > waited for outlook to tell my my browser doesn't support java...blah blah blah... Then I clicked to no > then change account settings where you can change imap address, ports, etc.. I left those default (see here https://support.google.com/mail/answer/7126229?visit_id=638310896909218644-792295660&hl=en&rd=1#zippy=%2Cstep-change-smtp-other-settings-in-your-email-client)
Then I added a check to the two SPA password boxes for in and outbound servers > next and boom, I got prompted for my gmail password > then my 2fa text code and I was finally connected!

for anyone looking for this fix - I had this issue for the last 3 months and finally received the fix from a very knowledgeable gsuite upper level support agent
1)From the Start menu, type regedit.exe in the search box, and then press Enter.
2)In Registry Editor, navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION
3) Find the REG_DWORD OUTLOOK.EXE and double-click to edit.
4)Select Decimal and change it to 11001 and select OK.
5) Close Registry Editor and restart Outlook.- Simon ShawCopper Contributor

NikolayISorry if this finds you long after your posting. Google and Microsoft are always updating. If you have a GSuite account, download the GWSMO app from Google. It will connect Outlook to your profile. https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gssmo
- zuaryCopper ContributorI found a simple fix and it worked 3 times already:
The problem is that when you upgrade from G-Suite Legacy to Google's Workspace Business google builds another totally different account with the same name, that is your_name@your_domain.
Now you have 2 accounts with the same email address, one is Individual (the old legacy one), the other is your new business account. This situation causes outlook to fail when trying to install the email account in outlook, or even to fix or change the password to the old outlook account that worked fine until now.
The solution is to get rid of the Google's individual account, or change its email address.
How to do that:
When you try to sign in to chrome with that email address you get 2 choices: Individual, or Business?
Choose the Individual. You can't login to it since you don't have it's password, don't try, instead click on "forgot password". Follow the conversation there, when asked, put an old password (the one you had prior to the upgrade for example), you will get a security code to your mail, which is alright because you can enter your new email account in gmail.com , not needing outlook for it, you should now see that google changed the account to a temporary name like
email address removed for privacy reasons .
You should be able now access this temporary mail in gmail.com, when you first sign in you are asked to choose a permanent name for it, choose something and you are now set with the Individual account renamed. Now you may proceed to install/fix your account in outlook.
(The renamed individual account holds some data and permissions to some google apps that you registered to while it was a legacy account, most of your data, like emails, photos, calendar, drive, where transferred to your new business account, therefore what is left of your old legacy account is probably negligible)- BlessedMomCopper ContributorThank you for this information. The registry fix worked though. While I did not need this fix, I am copy pasting to my notes in case it arises another time and the registry fix doesn't work. Thank you!
- Arnold_Sh2Copper ContributorThe registry fix posted here does not work for me. I am on windows 10 and my outlook 365 is dead come this morning. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you close Outlook before applying the reg settings?
Reboot afterwards?
Did you run the reg script or edit manually?
- Arnold_Sh2Copper ContributorI did close Outlook before editing manually as per instructions but it does the same thing. It asks me to login with my email address which i do and then i pick "organizational" and then it says my java is not enabled in a browser. All was good till this morning and now i cannot set this up. I do get my email on my phone and via the browser but not via 'Outlook"

Here's the fix. I had this issue on 5 computers so far. The problem started following some automatic update.
Copy this into a file with the extension .REG (Registry file)
Then, execute the REG file.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION]
"Outlook.exe"=dword:00002af8[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION]
"Outlook.exe"=dword:00002af8[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION]
"OUTLOOK.EXE"=dword:00002af8- BlessedMomCopper Contributor
Brillant fix! I have tried SO many and this did it. The edit the Registry Fix
For me, I have 2 accounts that are both Organization and I could only add 1. The other threw the Java and this fixed it! Thank you thank you! I am unsure if this was your fix or copy pasted, but thank you for either. - GatitoCopper ContributorI created a text file, copied the above code, then renamed the TXT to REG and ran it, rebooted the computer, added my Google account and it is working.
Thank you! - Marco_QCopper ContributorThank you very much for your answer. I haven't had any such configuration to do since I had the problem myself, but I keep your solution in mind for possible future issues.
