Huge amount of spam/ junk- bets way to stop?

HI group,

I have been using Outlook for ages and my mail goes mostly to junk as it may be a reply to a company that Ive emailed seeking an answer to something Im interest in.

I always give them my hotmail address.

However I am now being flooded with rubbish email to the junk folder which I 'select' and delete all in a large group.

How do I better control this and still have genuine replies to my information request email to legit companies?

Cheers

  • You want to reduce the flood of junk without losing legitimate replies. For an Outlook.com/Hotmail mailbox, add the exact addresses or domains of expected companies under Settings > Mail > Junk email > Safe senders and domains. When a genuine reply lands in Junk, select it and choose Not junk. For unwanted messages, use Report > Junk or Report phishing instead of only deleting them. Block a sender when the same address repeats, but remember that spammers often rotate or spoof addresses, so blocking alone will not stop every message. Avoid a broad rule that moves all unknown mail to Deleted Items, because it can hide real replies. Review your inbox rules, forwarding settings, and recent account activity. If anything is unfamiliar, change the password and enable two-step verification. Outlook cannot prevent all spam delivery, but reporting plus narrowly scoped safe senders is the safest balance.
