Unable to stop sync specific SharePoint Document library
NikolinoDE I have unlinked OneDrive from my laptop, removed OneDrive app and Teams app, restarted computer. After restart, am seeing the folder structure for Sharepoint, but now in different location under Users. Problem is; when I open my web Sharepoint, it still shows that its syncing--I do not want it to sync to this old / corrupted folder structure, but I no longer have OneDrive on laptop to manipulate through that app.
How do I unlink Sharepoint online from my laptop's old / corrupted Sharepoint folder structure?
If you have unlinked OneDrive from your laptop but are still experiencing issues with the old/corrupted SharePoint folder structure, you can try the following steps to unlink SharePoint Online:
- Clear OneDrive Cache:
- Even after unlinking, there might be remnants of the synchronization left in the cache. You can clear the OneDrive cache by following these steps:
- Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.
- Type or paste the following path and press Enter: %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\
- Select all the files and folders in this location and delete them.
- Windows Credential Manager:
- Check if there are any stored credentials related to SharePoint in the Windows Credential Manager. Follow these steps:
- Open the Control Panel on your computer.
- Navigate to "User Accounts" and then "Credential Manager."
- Look for any credentials related to SharePoint or OneDrive, and remove them.
- Registry Edit (Advanced):
- If the issue persists, you might need to check the registry for any remnants. Note that editing the registry can have unintended consequences, so proceed with caution.
- Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.
- Type regedit and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
- Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity\Identities.
- Look for any entries related to SharePoint or OneDrive, and delete them.
- Close the Registry Editor.
- Check Online:
- Visit the SharePoint site online and verify if there are any active sync connections from the web interface. You might be able to manage and unlink them from the SharePoint settings.
- Reinstall OneDrive (Optional):
- If all else fails, you can consider reinstalling OneDrive on your laptop. After reinstalling, you can choose not to set up syncing for the SharePoint library.
Remember to create backups or restore points before making changes to the registry .
