OneDrive Sync 'Block uploads by file type' produce OneDrive sync warnings
Hi,
Our organization have just implement the exclusion for certain file types from OneDrive syncing, from the SharePoint Admin Centre> Settings> OneDrive Sync > 'Block uploads by file type' input.
This has worked however our users are now setting OneDrive sync warnings (in some cases 800+) about files not syncing with the 'red x' symbols against many folders and files. I wasn't expecting this as this was our organizations decision to exclude these files, and therefore why should it warns us. If we do a have legitimate sync issue it's going to get lost in the crowd.
Is there any way of suppressing the sync warning on file types we have excluded?
Many thanks.

Hi, welcome to Microsoft.
I can see that you are experiencing issues with OneDrive sync warnings after excluding certain file types from syncing. I am here to help you solve that problem.
The “Block uploads by file type” feature is designed to prevent users from uploading specific file types to OneDrive. However, it does not prevent users from syncing files that are already in OneDrive. Therefore, if a user has already synced a file that is later excluded by the admin, the user will receive a sync warning.
The warnings are a part of OneDrive’s functionality to ensure users are aware of any files that aren’t being synced.
Let me share few steps which more like a work around.
- Move the files that cannot sync to a folder.
- Click the OneDrive icon in the menu bar.
- Click Preferences, and then click the Account tab.
- Click choose folder and uncheck the check box.
This way, the files that cannot sync will be in a folder that is not being synced with OneDrive, which should prevent the sync warnings from appearing for those files.

This is the description in the policy setting through Endpoint Manager-->Device Config-->OneDrive exclusions-->Exclude specific kinds of files from being uploaded:
"If you enable this setting, the sync app doesn't upload new files that match the keywords you specified. No errors appear for the skipped files, and the files remain in the local OneDrive folder."
So, we should not be receiving errors on excluded files, and yet; here we are....This was working fine until recently, but suddenly was being ignored until reset. Since then, every user has a sync error for the .db file that was specifically excluded.
Also, file cannot be moved without breaking functionality of the app that is using it and when attempting to deselect the folder, it states that it cannot save because some of the content has not yet been uploaded to OneDrive(because it is an excluded file).
