OneDrive "looking for changes" slow, entire product needs to be optimized

While there has been some progress made with OneDrive, it's still much too slow especially when small files are created, and it must spend a few minutes "looking for changes" just to upload a 423kb jpg.  Why is this not cached in memory or accelerated.  It slows down any task requiring access to the file or creating a shared link.  Often, I have to break up a task that should only take a few minutes to finish it later just to wait on OneDrive.  I'm not sure why it's not designed to see a file and just upload it.  What are we waiting for?
