Bulk OneDrive file download
Hi there,
I’ve had about 1TB worth of files shared with me. Each file is ~640MB. I have been granted full access to the OneDrive folder but it does not appear in my shared with me folder, and because of one drives 20GB download limit I am having to manually select between 30-40 files at a time to download. Is there a fast way to download all files or sync or move these to my own OneDrive folder? In the move option all I can see are folders within the original external OneDrive folder. As this folder doesn’t appear in my own shared with you folder, I cannot sync it to my desktop.
Id appreciate any help here as this has become very tedious and time consuming.
Thanks,
Thomas

It seems like you are facing challenges with downloading a large number of files from a shared OneDrive folder due to download limits and access issues. Unfortunately, there is no direct way to bulk download files from a shared OneDrive folder if the files are not appearing in your "Shared with me" folder and you are limited by download restrictions.
However, here are a couple of approaches you could consider:
- Contact the Owner: If you have been granted full access to the OneDrive folder but you are not seeing the files in your "Shared with me" folder, it might be best to communicate with the owner of the shared folder. They might need to re-share the folder with you or provide additional permissions that allow you to see and sync the files properly.
- OneDrive Sync: If you have access to the shared folder and want to synchronize it to your own OneDrive folder, you can follow these steps:
- Open your OneDrive settings on your computer (usually accessed by right-clicking the OneDrive icon in the system tray and selecting "Settings").
- In the "Account" tab, click on "Add an account" and sign in with the account that has access to the shared folder.
- Once added, you will have access to both your personal OneDrive and the shared folder's contents.
- You can then move or copy files from the shared folder to your personal OneDrive, and they will sync to your local machine.
- Be mindful of space limitations on your local drive if you're dealing with a large amount of data.
- OneDrive API or Third-Party Tools: If you are technically inclined, you might consider using the OneDrive API or third-party tools designed for managing and downloading files from OneDrive. However, this would require programming skills and potentially additional permissions to access the shared folder via API.
- Chunked Download: If you are downloading files manually in chunks due to the download limits, you could automate this process with browser extensions or scripts that automate the selection and downloading of specific chunks of files. This would still be manual but could save you some time.
Remember, any time you're dealing with large-scale file management or data transfer, it's important to have backups and to be mindful of storage and bandwidth limitations. The text and the steps are the result of various AI's.
