Teams is KILLING my Mac Every Day
- Jul 14, 2022
Hi everyone, we're pleased to announce Microsoft Teams for Apple Silicon, which on the M1/M2 ARM builds, will have significantly faster performance than what's seen during the Rosetta emulation today! Here's our official roadmap ID for this release; Microsoft 365 Roadmap | Microsoft 365. More on this can be found here; Announcing Microsoft Teams optimized for Apple silicon - Microsoft Tech Community.
Users should see a significant performance boost with this release. And for the Intel Macs out there, we're still thinking about you! We have some large performance fixes coming that will help improve overall performance for the Intel version as well.
Thanks,
Sam Cosby, Teams Engineering PM
Thanks again for letting us know and we're always listening!

Is there an updated release version since 1.4.00.22368? Someone referenced a November release version, but I cannot find any details about a newer version for Mac since the September release. Any news about a beta or other version to try?
Thanks,
Richard

just looking at preferences after reading this string of comments
and noticed an option on by default - enable logging...
depending on the frequency and size of the data of said logging, this could have a constant impact on I/O.
could the constant
- Tomas PeskoJan 14, 2022Copper ContributorThe last year's (2021) releases did not fix the performance issue. From reading about the Teams on Mac, I think it will not be possible to fix the current gen. of the MS Teams on Mac, so they will have just these small iterative releases that will do absolutely nothing for performance, and apparently this should be solved by the next gen. MS Teams client when they completely move away from Chromium, but that new gen. is somewhere in the 2023 or even later. Mac OS is not really a priority for Microsoft, they probably have 10 times larger team working on MS Team for Windows than on Mac, hence probably the reason why it runs perfectly fine on potato hardware with windows but can't run properly on the best Mac hardware there is.

- Sam CosbyNov 03, 2021Microsoft1.4.00.22368 is the current stable release for Mac but there's a rollout for 1.4.00.29477 that's ongoing right now. It's at 50% propagation so it should roll out sooner rather than later.
