Teams Desktop Client - Modern Lifecyle Policy after 90 Days

Hello Teams Community

In early 2020, Microsoft announced, that Teams Client which are older than 3 months will be blocked. Unfortunately, i didn't find any official Microsoft References for this. (in several Blogs like Tomtalks etc. the all quote from Microsofts Annunciation: "MC193099")

Also see this Topic at Tomtalks-Blog:

https://tomtalks.blog/microsoft-teams-will-block-clients-older-than-3-months-and-warn-to-update-if-client-is-older-than-1-month/

Is there any reference or experience as to whether this policy is actually currently being enforced in this way?

Has anyone had experience with the Teams Desktop Client that is older than 90 days? Do you have any hints or recommendations?

Thank you and best regards 🙂

welcome to the Microsoft community, my name is Yakubu Suleman I'll be happy to help you today.

I understand that you need a Microsoft reference article that is taking about the Teams desktop client modern lifecycle policy after 90 days.

Please note that these schedules only apply if your organization has set the Teams Update policy "Use new Teams Client" to either:

    • Microsoft controlled (the value in the Teams Admin Center) or
    • Microsoft choice (if you are using PowerShell)
