I've encountered some difficulty uploading an excel file on a daily basis to a Teams chat. What we've found is we are unable to upload a new version of the file if someone in our Teams chat is currently viewing the file. Does anyone know of a reliable workaround for this problem?
Here's a bit more details on our current process:
We originally uploaded an excel file to the 'Files' area of Teams, then created a new tab: see the screenshot FileX
From here, we noticed a specific sharepoint URL that corresponds to where this file exists. For example this folder:
https://companyname.sharepoint.com/sites/TeamFolderName/Shared%20Documents/General/FileX%20Upload/
Each day when I update the data for this Excel sheet, I run a macro (from a desktop version of the excel file) that saves a new version of the file to this Sharepoint URL, and most days it works great. However, this file upload is unsuccessful when someone is currently in the file in Teams.
Therefore, a workaround we have is to just limit the number of people with read-write access in this file, and manually type in the new day's values. However, we are looking for a more automated solution. Is anyone aware of a more effective way to do this? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
