Hi,
Can anyone confirm this this works, or indeed doesn't? I can't seem to schedule meetings into Private Channels, but can't find if this should actually work.
Thanks,

Private channels are designed to limit visibility and access to a specific group of members within a larger team or organization. While you can communicate and collaborate within private channels, scheduling meetings within them is not a built-in feature.
However, you can still schedule meetings and coordinate with members of a private channel by using alternative methods. Here are a few suggestions:
Share meeting details in the private channel: Inform the members of the private channel about the meeting details by posting a message with the date, time, and agenda in the private channel. This way, everyone in the channel can see the information and plan accordingly.
Use integrated calendar tools: Most communication platforms offer integrations with popular calendar applications like Google Calendar or Outlook. You can create a calendar event in your preferred calendar tool and share the meeting invite link or details in the private channel.

Private Channels in Teams is indeed a cool feature, especially for effective collaboration of higher management and strategic groups working on sensitive information and data.
It is, however, sad to see a very basic yet important feature like meeting setup missing.
It's been more than couple of years since first concern was raised, but I see the issue hasn't progressed much. I tried to cast my vote in uservoice, but seems the link no more exists.
I would greatly appreciated if this feature is ranked top of the backlog and its implementation expedited.
Will be hopefully watching this thread for the good news! 🙂
Thanks!

@Andy OwenTotally agree. Stupid not to have the ability to schedule in private channel.

Hi @Thomas_HZ @Ashwin4rmUBS and all others who commented.
Just getting back to Tech Community after a long period odd so thanks for bearing with me.
The request hasn't moved along any further on feedback portal. It is still here and is currently in a state of review: Microsoft have responded to it:
Support channel meetings in Private Channels · Community (microsoft.com)
In terms of a workaround
1.) As stated previously, you can simply go into the private channel, start a meet now, copy the link to the meeting and then put that link into a recurring cal entry in Outlook :D.
2.) You can also schedule channel meetings in Shared Channels, which also have the privacy of Private Channels but have the functionality you need. With the shared channel you have the ability to only share it with people as opposed to teams, or orgs outside of you own. I 100% get that a downside of this is that you may not want others to have the opportunity to have to share it with anything other than individuals.
If I am honest I don't think that the native solution of being able to pick private channels when scheduling a meet will be - given the amount of time passed already - anytime soon. However, I'll put it in front of engineering so that they have eyes on it again. Caveat is that they may still do nothing given current commitments.
Best, Chris

@Christopher Hoard This would be really useful for our organisation. I look forward to getting functionality.

Please, please, please, please, please, Microsoft. Can you make this happen, it would make life in our organisation so much simpler than using the very clunky and time consuming work arounds.
Thank you 🙂

And if it's really that impossible; let us know. (Hard to see why it's impossible, but who knows)

@sp-jmglade, I agree with everyone else on this list. Either add the option or create a new meeting class to the existing, standard, private, and shared.
In addition, Shared should have the ability to add guests outside of the B2B. At least let it be an administrator function to decide if guests are allowed or not.

@TheDino It seems a bit odd that this has not yet been looked at. I was led to believe that if there were a certain amount (10,000?) of concerns/requests for change that MS would look at making changes.
Obviously in the "too difficult" pile 🙂

@Christopher Hoard This "1.) As stated previously, you can simply go into the private channel, start a meet now, copy the link to the meeting and then put that link into a recurring cal entry in Outlook 😄" sounds a bit odd. Why is it just not possible to plan a meeting within a private channel and restrict the participants just to memembers of the cahnnel only. Additionally, I get the message that the admin has this feature (to schedule a meeting) not activated. This is really not good, as it is not the admin who limited that, but Microsoft itself!
Regarding your workaround, at which sharepoint location are any files that are shared in the chat of the meeting then, in that of the channel, or at another location?
Kind regards,
Udo
