Maximum Capacity for a MS Teams meeting

I have set up 1200 people in a public team on MS Teams for an event next week and have now seen a post that for another event for 600, only 250 people managed to get onto the platform for that event.  Is that for a private event or will the public event work the same?  We do not have MS Teams live events in South Africa as an alternative.

Hello @BusinessEngage the maximum capacity for a regular Teams meeting is 300.
