Has Teams Web background noise cancellation changed?

For months now I've been working with a fan running in the background and I've never had issues with web Teams picking up the constant noise. No one has ever complained about hearing it. This all changed this week. I have a MAC and now running 14.2.1 and an Apple Studio Display. If I now answer or call a meeting and have the fan running Teams essentially just provides almost 100% echo to the meeting for when ever anyone else talks. If I join the meeting without the fan on everything is fine. If i turn the fan on after I have joined 8 out of 10 times every thing is fine. I've tried low, medium, high, auto suppression and none of these make teams cancel continuous back ground noise without impacting echo for other callers.

If I switch to Zoom this problem does not exists at all...it appears that Teams determines the cancellation only at the start of the call as well because once there is echo i can turn the fan off and the echo remains. 100% consistent and is always the same at the start of a call.

I'm pretty sure it never existed in teams until the week 14/01/24.

I'm open for any suggestions if there are any. I'll try lodging a actual ticket as well.

I've also tried starting meetings with mute on and this sometimes makes teams behave. probably a 30% failure instead of 60%. While in the same scenario without any changes Zoom is 100% perfect each and every call. This discounts my PC and the network and isolates the issue to teams.

I am having the same issue with both the older desktop Teams and the new teams.  I have the noise cancellation on and it's pick up converstaions that it never picked up before.  I have to only turn on the mic when I need to speak.

Is there a solution?  Do we know why this is happening?
