Does Teams limit how many files you can see when on mobile app?

Brass Contributor

One of our students is unable to see all the files in a team when she is on her iPad using the teams app.  The team has over 40 files and she can only see 30, I can't see an option for next page or load more.  I have tested myself with another team that has 37 files, on my phone using the Android app for teams I can only see 30 files.

I've looked in teams admin settings but can't see a policy restricting this.

Anybody heard of this before?

Thanks

Hi @Jason Denness ,

If a student is unable to see all the files in a Microsoft Teams app on their iPad or an Android phone, and there is no option to load more or navigate to the next page, it could be due to a limitation or issue with the app's user interface. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Refresh the app: Sometimes, refreshing the app can resolve minor display issues. Swipe down or find the refresh option within the app to reload the content and check if the missing files appear.

2. Check for app updates: Ensure that the Microsoft Teams app on the iPad or Android phone is up to date. App updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can address such issues. Visit the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android) to check for available updates.

3. Clear app cache (Android only): If you're using the Teams app on an Android phone, clearing the app cache might help. Go to the device's Settings, locate the Apps or Applications section, find the Microsoft Teams app, and clear its cache. Restart the app and check if the issue persists.

4. Switch to a different view: In the Teams app, try switching between different views within the Files section. By default, it may show the most recent files or files organized by a specific category. Look for options like "Recent," "All," or "Files," and see if changing the view displays the missing files.

5. Use the web version: If the app continues to exhibit the issue, suggest using the web version of Microsoft Teams on the iPad's web browser or the phone's browser. Access Teams through the browser and navigate to the specific team to see if the files are visible there. This will help determine if the issue is specific to the app or more general.

6. Report the issue: If none of the above steps resolve the problem, it's advisable to report the issue to Microsoft Support or your organization's IT support. Provide details about the device, app version, and steps to reproduce the problem. This will help the support team investigate and provide further assistance.

Remember to consider any device or app-specific limitations, as well as the organization's settings or restrictions that might affect file visibility.

Thanks. I have tried all that, they can see all the files via webpage but Teams itself is not very useable that way, the app is much better.

The current workaround I am using is telling staff to tidy the files into folders and that seems to work. I was just hoping there was a setting somewhere limiting the view.

thanks again for your reply.
