Can I use one Business Standard Account for multiple Teams users in Organisation?
Hello, this might be a little complicated but I'm hoping for some guidance. I have read quite a few Microsoft documents on this but I still have some queries which someone may be able to provide some assistance.
A brief background. I work with an agency that is part of a larger organisation. We are relatively autonomous but we do use their IT infrastructure which is a mixture of Citrix, Lotus Notes and Outlook.
We would predominantly use Zoom for both internal and external bodies. However, our main client has insisted on using Teams. We had a week of meetings last in which I sent up all the meetings on Teams. I would attend some meeting and others I was not needed. However, I opened all the meetings including the ones I was not participating in. I would leave the meeting when I was satisfied that everything was in place and all attendees where there. This is not something that I consider to be good practice moving forward.
I think going forward the best thing to do is set up an organisation on Office 365. This would allow me to change the settings on the meeting that would allow those in my organisation to bypass the lobby and run the meeting without me. The issue that we have is that we will be using a mix of Teams via the app and web browser.
On this issue we are essential on our own to sort out and will have to get our own licenses. We were considering purchasing one or two basic licences but I’m not sure if this will be the best action, We don’t want all the staff to purchase their own licences (yes they will be reimbursed but it’s not appropriate). Correct me if I'm wrong but from what I can tell I can get one 365 Business Standard package which will enable me to become the a Global Admin and I can then assign a Teams licenses to others in the organisation. Or will everyone require the business standard licence, keep in mind this is just to use Teams?
Next, can I set up an organisation by just using the Microsoft domain i.e. xxxx.onmicrosft.com or do I have to use the existing agency domain? The former might be a quicker way to organise this.
Sorry for rambling

- EWoodrickIron ContributorGenerally, as a consultant, if a customer wants me to use a specific meeting platform that I don't have access to, I let them schedule the meetings. Actually, I have customers on Teams that I still let them schedule the meetings. That's because things tend to work a little easier when 80% of a call is on their own tenant.
If I am working closely with a specific customer, quite often they will even create an account for me, so that I can create the meetings.
To answer your question, licenses are either "per person" or "per machine" so that's not the greatest news. But you could also see if the Free version of Teams fits your needs.
