Intune MAM

Hi everyone! Does anyone knows why in the documentation of Microsoft says that you can assign an app to a device not enrolled in Intune? I am aware that you can do it by user, but it says specifically to a device. If is possible, how so? ( https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/intune/apps/apps-deploy )

Where do you see it? The table says that assignment to devices is not supported for not enrolled devices?

Before the table it says "It is important to note that you can assign an app to a device whether or not the device is managed by Intune." After in the table says quite the opposite so I don't know if it is referring that you can do it with other MDMs...

Good point, not sure about that.

They might be referring for availability for devices without Enrollment.

“Available with or without enrollment: Assign this app to groups of users whose devices are not enrolled with Intune. Users must be assigned an Intune license, see Intune Licenses”
