Unable to Sign In to Android Apps on Chrome OS

I downloaded the android Powerpoint app for a new Chromebook. When I try to sign into my 365 account it immediately sends me to the new sign up screen saying that my id is taken. I can sign into the app fine on my android phone.  But the sign in appears faulty on the android app on chrome os. Is this a known issue? Or am i doing something wrong?
