Installing microsoft 365 questions

Copper Contributor

I have a microsoft 365 and it says I have shared 1 of 5 subscriptions.

I am trying to add 365 to a new computer. How do I do it? It is not on a signed in device. I thought I had installed 365 previously, but then a bitlocker error that caused me to reformat the hard drive and reinstall windows. the computer has a different name and it is not being seen when I look at my other computer with the subscription info. I wish there was some real tech support.....

I'm here to help you with your Microsoft 365 subscription issue. To add Microsoft 365 to a new computer, you can follow these steps:

1. **Sign In to Microsoft Account:** Ensure you're signed in with the Microsoft account that has an active Microsoft 365 subscription.

2. **Visit** Go to the official Microsoft Office website at [](

3. **Sign In Again:** If prompted, sign in again with the same Microsoft account that has the subscription.

4. **Install Office:** Once signed in, you should see an option to install Office. Click on it.

5. **Download and Run Installer:** This will download the Office installer. Run the installer to start the installation process.

6. **Follow Installation Wizard:** Follow the installation wizard's prompts, which may include selecting your language, accepting the license agreement, and choosing the installation type (typically, you'd choose the default settings).

7. **Activate Office:** During the installation, you might be asked to sign in again. Make sure you sign in with the Microsoft account that has the subscription. This should automatically activate your subscription on the new computer.

If you've already installed Office on the new computer but it's not recognizing your subscription, you might need to sign out and sign back in with the correct Microsoft account. Here's how to do it:

1. Open any Office application (e.g., Word or Excel).

2. Click on "File" in the upper left corner.

3. Click on "Account" or "Office Account."

4. Click "Sign Out" to sign out of any existing account.

5. Sign in with the Microsoft account that has the active subscription.

If the new computer is not being recognized as one of your devices with the subscription, you can check your Microsoft account's device list to manage your activations:

1. Go to [](

2. Sign in with your Microsoft account.

3. You should see a list of devices associated with your account. Make sure the new computer is listed there.
thank you. I wish those clear instructions were easier to find. I did it get in confused if I have one or 2 Microsoft accounts and subscriptions, but loaded on the new computer.
