Hello!
Azure AD Connect must be installed on a domain-joined Windows Server 2016 or later.

Hi fabrizio80,
Consider AADC Cloudsync as an alternative to AADC. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/cloud-sync/what-is-cloud-sync
Relevant to your description of multiple forests without trusts "AADC Cloudsync supports synchronizing to an Azure AD tenant from a multi-forest disconnected Active Directory forest environment"
