This is an annoying problem that only started recently and is interfering with my email workflow. We have Microsoft 365 and I use the online Outlook app extensively. I will commonly have multiple tabs open with different emails visible and my calendar open in a separate tab. I have been doing this for more than a year without any issues and enjoy the ability to have more than one view of my email and calendar. Recently, a new behavior started where all my Outlook tabs will spontaneously auto-refresh which destroys my views and resets everything back to a view of the inbox. This is a terrible inconvenience since now I have multiple tabs that had the exact items I wanted on them all showing the same default view. How can I stop this! I don't think any of the other tabs in the browser (normally Chrome) auto-refresh when this happens. Is this a setting the admins of the tenant may have changed? Is anyone else experiencing this? Any ideas of what is causing this?5.4KViews0likes3CommentsThe New Outlook Gains Colored Folder Icons
Colored folder icons doesn’t seem like a new feature that should appear in an email client that’s been around for a long time, but the new Outlook for Windows and OWA now both offer users the ability to choose different colors for folder icons. Apparently, this is an important step forward in the development of the new Outlook and might just be the killer feature to convince the curmudgeons who use Outlook classic to switch. https://office365itpros.com/2025/03/07/colored-folder-icons/46Views1like0CommentsHow to Create and Send an Outlook Newsletter
Outlook Newsletters is an app for the new Outlook and OWA that allows users to create and send good-looking newsletters to internal recipients. It’s an easy-to-use app created using components drawn from across the Microsoft 365 software toolbox that will be of interest to anyone who needs to send internal newsletters on a regular basis. https://office365itpros.com/2025/03/05/outlook-newsletters/165Views1like0CommentsTeams App Won't Authenticate in New Outlook
I have a Teams app that is about to be upgraded to the new manifest so it will run in Outlook. I uploaded the app to test it, and in the old Outlook it works fine. I can see the interface, click the button to authenticate with my cloud system, it pops up a small window inside Outlook, I authenticate, and it works. Just like Teams. If a switch to the New Outlook, it doesn't work. I can still see the interface, but when I click the button to authenticate with my cloud system it does not pop up a small window inside Outlook. Instead it send me to the web browser. This will always fail as the Teams JS requires Outlook to be notified of the success in the small window it must provide (like old Outlook and Teams does). How can I get this to work? We've had reports among our customers in the past that this happens in Teams and the only thing I've ever seen work is to log out of Teams entirely. But in Outlook that's not an option. I've tried to repair and reset Outlook via the Settings app in Windows to no avail.2.5KViews1like28CommentsOutlook 365: Duplicate conference room names showing under locations
We recently changed our conference room names and since that time, we've noticed that some of our users are seeing multiple entries for conference rooms. When the users attempt to select the room on the location tab or required tab, they are seeing duplicates of the same rooms. This is only happening when the users are selecting the room from the location tab. If they go to Room Finder, there is only one instance of the room. The issue of course is that most people just use location and do not go into Room Finder as it creates an extra step. I have looked at multiple sites on this and the solution they quote involves changing the registry, but we don't have the registry option that these solutions point out. We also don't want to have to manually do a registry change for every individual having this issue. Has anyone come across this and if so, how did you resolve it? one more thing, we are also experiencing this in Outlook web.7.4KViews1like12Comments"New Outlook" Inbox not updating
In the "New Outlook" (which appears identical to the current web version of outlook): whenever I get a new email, I will get a notification and the unread counter next to my inbox tab will increase by one... but the email itself will not appear in the inbox UNTIL I click out of the inbox and back into it! It doesn't appear that the inbox can refresh itself "on-the-fly" as new emails come in, it only refreshes itself when it is loaded up! Are others experiencing this issue? I see svhelden posted about it a year ago but they said a software update fixed it... to me it seems to still be occurring with both the desktop and web app.54KViews4likes22CommentsMaking Sure that Outlook Puts Deleted Items in the Right Place
The Outlook (classic) client has a registry setting to control moving deleted items from a shared mailbox. The new Outlook for Windows client doesn’t have an equivalent setting, so items removed from a shared mailbox end up in the Deleted Items folder of the user’s mailbox rather than the Deleted Items folder in the shared mailbox. It’s an example of one of the things to fix before the new Outlook can take over. https://office365itpros.com/2024/10/02/moving-deleted-items/161Views0likes2CommentsMicrosoft Places individual desk booking is not working
Hi, Following the documentation, Configure desk booking - Microsoft Places | Microsoft Learn, I successfully ran the shared command lines without any errors. However, on Microsoft Places, I am unable to see individual desks appear; only desk pools are visible. Has anyone managed to get this to work? Hey community, I want to build a software that would automatically process incoming emails (using an LLM) from an outlook inbox and perform tasks, like forwarding the email to another inbox, or enriching the email body text with data from a CRM. The software should be easy to integrate into new organisations, so I was looking at building an outlook extensions. But i could not find any triggers that would work on any incoming email. I've looked at the Microsoft documentation for autolaunch add-ins: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/dev/add-ins/outlook/autolaunch But I have seen that I could create a email subscription with the microsoft REST API https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/api/subscription-post-subscriptions?view=graph-rest-1.0&tabs=http#request I also discovered this blog post that revolved around a similar problem https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/discussions/microsoft-365/trigger-api-from-received-email/3906340 The suggested solution includes using microsoft power automate, but I would like my solution to work without any additional subscriptions. So my question is, what are the best API's to develop my software. It should be easy to install it on every machine of employees of a client company (like installing the outlook add-on) and analyse the content of the email automatically to then perform some actions, like adding text to the body of an email. Thanks for any advice in advance :)76Views0likes3Comments
