UPDATED with xlsx file attached - Corrupt Excel Spreadsheet

Changed jobs and pulled all of my documents onto a Seagate external drive

External drive worked great at me new office - October 1

Purchased new computer and installed Microsoft 365 and Webroot Internet Security with Antivirus protection on October 3

Windows 10  (HP - Refurbished EliteDesk 800 G3 Desktop - Intel Core i5 - 16GB Memory - 512GB SSD)

Would not open my financial excel spreadsheet (Excel 2010) (at least 5 years of info) - Corrupt - Could not repair

However it did open my Publisher calendar.  (Publisher 2010)

Tried at work on Monday, October 4.  Couldn't access the excel spreadsheet - same corrupt message

Tried to open my publisher calendar - This too was now giving me the same corrupt message

I am now afraid to open anything else on that drive.

I scanned today with Norton 360, but no malware is detected.

I have tried almost everything I can find on the internet.  Even purchasing icare software and downloading oneofficesuite.

Please Help!!!

Hi Cathie,
This is a panic situation. You can repair your Excel file by Open and Repair method. It's an inbuilt utility provided by Microsoft Excel.

You can also delete the COM add-Ins from Excel. Follow these steps:

1. Open MS Excel

2. Click on File->Options

3. Select Add-Ins, select COM Add-ins from the list and remove them. 

4. Save the changes. 

If the manual ways won't able to fix the issue then, you can try the demo version of any Excel repair software. There are many software available to repair corrupt excel file, I know few of them:

1. Stellar Repair for Excel

2. Data Numen Excel repair

3. Excel repair kit etc.
