new 'card version' for cell phone viewing
I tried this on a sheet yesterday, and almost immediately regretted it.
Not only did I have to mess around with the sheet when I went to my desktop, it appears to have locked me out of features I need - like especially merging cells.
If any of the developers can help me get back my merge cell feature I would really appreciate it!

burnswattieoutlook Had never used "Card view" in Excel mobile before. Tested it when I read your question and noted that it requires the data to be in a structured table. Merged cells cause your data to be what I would call "unstructured" and are therefore not allowed in structured tables.
In other words, if you must retain merged cells, you can not use card view to edit your sheet in Excel for mobile. But, better to avoid merged cells altogether.
I appreciate that response as it explains what happened. It would suggest I now need to find out how to make that sheet 'unstructured'.
That all said, there ought to be a WARNING note telling users before they press the button that all merged cells will become unmerged.
Given that my particular sheet contains both forms and data, I won't be doing that with similar sheets again.
Your response also suggests that if I copy and paste the sheet into a new file, it should become unstructured again? I will give that a try.
burnswattieoutlook To convert a structured table back to a range, find the button on the Table ribbon while inside a table. In the Tools section, you should find this icon:
Alternatively, right-click inside a table, select "Table", then "Convert to range".
