Limitation of the number of characters when referring to a cell

Hi there,

In a donut chart, I want to customize the data labels by displaying values from other cells in the same sheet (=> refer to a range of data labels from the "Label Format" pane). I specify that the range in question consists of 3 cells each including a formula.

My graph then displays the correct labels, except that one of them appears truncated, as if the number of characters had been limited. Manually typing the same text into a text box added on my chart shows all the text without limitation, which leads me to believe that the limitation only applies for references to external cells.

Is this the case and if so, how to increase the number of characters displayed? If not, where could the problem come from?

Thank you in advance for your help !

    Hi. UserXL

I don't think that there is any limit applied to the size of the data labels. For more understanding purposes, I attach a sample file wherein I have added a donut chart with customized labels of different sizes. All values are fully displayed (without truncated)

It would be appropriate if you attach some sample data so a better solution can be suggested.

    Thanks

      Hello Tauqeer,

I got my answer on another forum and indeed the number of characters in the data labels is limited to 256. Unfortunately in my case, this limit prevents me from displaying the information I want and I will have to do otherwise .

      Thank you for your help.
