that site talks about a 'window menu'.

my office 365 excel doesn't have a window menu.

View multiple workbooks

  1. Open all the workbooks that you want to view.

  2. On the Window menu, click Arrange.

  3.

You're right the previous info was accidentally for Mac.
I rummaged around in Microsoft and in internet as far as possible and didn't find anything concrete in this regard.
This usually means two things.

a) It is not possible.

or

b) Nobody has been interested in whether there is such a possibility.

My last information that is a bit relevant to the topic, unfortunately I can't help anymore.

I hope that someone else here in the forum can help you more

Last yet this info that I could not find.

Ps. You said that your office version has no "window menu".
Maybe you could insert a picture with your version of Excel. Maybe we'll get on like this.

Solution

@alk44

Its only SDI on latest versions of Excel

@alk44

This is an old post but someone may find it helpful.

Easy.  Open the first excel workbook (or a blank one).

Select all the workbooks you want in the same instance and drag them over to the open workbook sheet.

Don't worry, it won't insert any workbooks into the initial workbook.

It will open each workbook individually with the same instance as the initial workbook.

You can then create another instance and load a group of workbooks in that instance too.

Get into the habit of just opening workbooks by dragging over to the instance you want to avoid issues.
