Excel SSAS Olap Connection Memory Error

Copper Contributor

We have an OLAP cube with 30 Facts tables containing on average 15-20 measures.  Around 70 dimensions in varying width but many are very fat containing over 100 dimension attributes.  Recently we added another field to the cube and when we try to connect using excel we get the following message.  "Memory Error: A record(65789 bytes) was encountered that exceeds the maximum page size of the storage object (65528) bytes"  Have we reached a limitation in excel?

It sounds like it... You should use Power BI instead. Have you considered this?

We have a power bi implementation but many of our users are connecting to SSAS using excel.   Thanks for the reply. @PascalKTeam

Sounds like there's something wrong with the Power BI implementation when people are still using Excel... Sorry I couldn't help more

@PascalKTeam No it's not. At the moment, there's no true alternative for the flexibility and awesomeness of the Excel pivottable. But the matrix is getting close...

On-topic: I have the same error. Very weird. I can browse the model without issues in SSMS.
