Sounds like there's something wrong with the Power BI implementation when people are still using Excel... Sorry I couldn't help more
PascalKTeam No it's not. At the moment, there's no true alternative for the flexibility and awesomeness of the Excel pivottable. But the matrix is getting close...
On-topic: I have the same error. Very weird. I can browse the model without issues in SSMS.
