Excel question about copy and pasting large amounts of data

I am attempting to convert numbers that are entered as text to numbers. The columns I am working with are large, upwards of over 500000. It seems that some data is dropped. Is there a maximum amount of data that can be copied and pasted?

I have tried to convert these numbers as text into numbers using the text to columns function in data, but it does not change all data in the column.

Thank you for the reply, but the large number I mean is not a single number, but the number of cells in the column. I was probably not clear on that. My sheet has close to one million cells in a column. When I attempt to copy most of the column, then paste it to another column, it appears to lose data.

the maximum rows of a sheet is 1048576 - just a little over one million.
if the destination column is empty - you should have no problem pasting the data in that column. if you are using manual system - there might be some problem selecting the enormous rows.
