Excel for Mac - INPUT date format - how to change

Copper Contributor

I am used to inputting dates as mm-dd-yy.  On my on PC you were able to choose what format you wanted for input.

Just added a iMac to the mix and cannot find a place to change this INPUT FORMAT.  I have tried Language & Region and under :

Region: Canada

Calendar: Gregorian

which gives me yyy-mm-dd

I have to check on my Mac to see if such a setting is available as in Windows (currently away on Windows PC)

However, you could set your cells having dates to display in mm-d-yy format.

Go to custom in more number formats and simple put 'mm-d-yy' in Type box.

Yes, you would have to do it every time. If you are working with a date column, you could select the column and set the custom format. Other than this, to my knowledge, you have to do it for every other cell/sheet/workbook.
