Excel (365) date format (in cell) won't change from number of days since 1/1/1900

Hello. I seem unable to change the date format from the number of days since 1/1/1900.

I have tried all different date formats, and despite the actual date showing correctly in the formula bar, the cell will only display as 44234 etc.

Any ideas please?
