Drag Down

Hi everyone,

I am trying to drag down a month in Excel over thousands of lines. It will sometimes drag a few down, but not nearly all the way. Sometimes it won't drag at all. I have done the File -> Options -> Advanced -> Editing check to ensure that the "enable fill handle and cell drag-and-drop" is clicked. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thank you!

Rather than using the drag down method, given that it looks like you're doing this next to fully occupied columns of other info... may I suggest that you

    1. go to the bottom of the adjacent column (in my Mac that's a combination of Command-Down)
    2. then go to the column where you want to populate with the month
    3. enter an "x" (or any other character of your choosing)
    4. press Command-Up to get to the top
    5. press Command-C (if a Mac, or Ctrl-C) to copy the month (or whatever)
    6. press Shift-Command-Down to highlight the entire range
    7. press Command-V (or Ctrl-V) to paste
    8. Sigh a sigh of relief. All done.

      Hi mathetes -

Thank you so much for the step by step! I actually have a Windows but can figure this out accordingly. I finished with this report a more manual way, but next time will try this. Appreciate your help 🙂

As variant of the same approach, type in name box entire range

        Enter (it will be selected)

        Ctrl+D (it will be filled)
