Copy conditional formatting

Hi,

 

I have a problem with copying conditional formatting. Lets say I have expences in column A, and a target values in column B. I am using conditional formatting to color the cells in column A based on the target values in column B. But, if I use the format painter, copying the format from row 1 to row 2 and so on, Excel takes cell B1 into account for every row and not B2, B3 and so on..

 

Hope I could get some help, it would save me a lot of time!

    Hi Eirik,

     

    It depends on which rule type do you use for the conditional formatting. Most probably your rule use absolute reference $B$1 instead of mixed $B1
