Does Microsoft provide Microsoft CSP partners with notifications about customers changing partners?

Copper Contributor

Does Microsoft issue notifications to the Microsoft CSP administrator when one of the Microsoft CSP customers leaves the current partner to change to a new Microsoft CSP partner? Is it an email saying that your granular admin relationship has been terminated with your client?

@Nancy_Moss I'm moving your post to our CSP discussion board. 🙂

Hi @Nancy_Moss

The customer needs to communicate with both the current and the future partner by way of an offline conversation.  This avoids confusion.

The following website gives information on changing partners for Azure subscriptions, yet I've been told that process is the same throughout the CSP program.

Transfer Azure subscriptions, reservations, or savings plans (under an Azure plan) to another CSP pa...

Hope that helps!

This is for Azure subscriptions. Is the process the same for licensing? Or does the CSP partner have to suspend the customer licensing that moves to another CSP partner? I didn't see that information in the article.

Solution

Hi @Nancy_Moss ,

Since it is currently not possible to move NCE licenses to another CSP partner, the customer must wait until the NCE licenses expire.

You need to make sure that Auto Renew is disabled. So that the customer can order the licenses from the new CSP partner when they expire.

Azure subscriptions can be transferred between partners as they are not constrained by the NCE terms due to being usage based.

New partner must submit a transfer request in partner center and they need to provide details such as your CSP tenant ID as part of the request.

You should be notified of this request and you will see it in partner center. This is where you choose the Azure subscriptions that have been agreed to be transferred.

You would expect the customer to communicate this with you in advance.
