Does anyone know if Microsoft brings support for Windows Server 2025 guest virtual machines for System Center 2019 Virtual Machine Manager? With Update Rollup 4 in July 2022 Microsoft added support to manage Windows Server 2022 & Windows 11 guest virtual machines. Thank you for any news. We have an application deployed through Software Center - ver 22 - which must be updated to v24. I want to uninstall v22 wherever, and only where it's installed and replace it with the new version. My test OU I have two machines. One had v22 installed and one did not have the application. I built a new Application for v24 and configured Supersedence on v22 with Uninstall. I set the Deployment Type/Install Behavior/Requirements for membership in my test OU - my two test machines only. After Deployment: Machine #1- v22 was replaced by v24 Machine #2 - v24 was added to Apps & Features I need the deployment to skip installing v24 on any machine which does not already have v22 installed. Can someone tell me what I missed? Thanks! —A12Views0likes0CommentsSCOM 2022 and SCOM 2019
Hello All I have just joined this forum after 48 hours of intensive struggling, I am trying to apply for a job that requires SCOM experience, so I tried to install it on my Windows server 2019 domain on my home lab, I found that setting up SCOMJ 2022 or 2019 is a complete nightmare, possibly I tried over 50 times to no avail, I consistently get the error message in the SCOM setup log of: Error: :PopulateUserRoles: failed : Threw Exception.Type: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException, Exception Error Code: 0x80070539, Exception.Message: The security ID structure is invalid. Hello! My System Center 2022 DPM console shows that some protected devices take up 0kb of storage. I know its inaccurate because I can recover data from those devices. Any idea as to how to get the accurate storage consumed number to show? I tried running the "Update-DPMProductionServer" command via the DPM management shell and it tells me that it cant convert the value.23Views0likes0CommentsSCCM Upgrade with an Offline Service Connection Point

DPM 2019, using SQL 2019 on a 2019 server. The server was doing a consistency check on a file server. The check lasted about 33 hours and the items scanned showed over 4 million. There is no way a server could have 1 million files and folders, let alone 4 million. Does anyone know why the number of items scanned would be so high?42Views4likes0CommentsSCVMM 2025 can't deploy Service Templates to Win2025 guest VMs.
I recently upgraded my SCVMM 2022 instance to 2025. I have a few Service Templates for lab/test purposes that expedite deployments such as installing the first DC in a new AD forest. I wanted to upgrade these Service Templates to work with Win2025 guest VMs so I built a new syspreped Windows Server 2025 image, and copied my "New Forest DC" Service Template so it could utilize a Win2025 guest. After a lot of troubleshooting, I found that SCVMM 2025 seems to fail to be able to configure a Win2025 guest. I originally thought there may be an issue with my Application Confg scripts that install the ADDS role and install the first DC. However, after removing those scripts and just trying to install Rolls and Features under the OS Configuration options, they appear to fail as well. Has anyone had any success deploying a Service Template with Win2025 guests VMs? Simple test to try to reproduce: Create a syspreped image .VHDK file with Windows Server 2025 (I've tested with both Gen2 and Gen1) Create a Service Template to deploy one guest VM Machine Tier. Add a few Windows Roles and Features (I'm adding ADDS, DNS, GPMC and the management tools) Example screenshot below. Deploy the service. For me, the VM deploys properly but the Service Template eventually fails and no roles are installed as it hangs on the deploy applications task. (2nd screenshot below). This works just fine with a Windows Server 2022 image. Can anyone else reproduce this? Did I miss something that is needed in the guest image? Thanks in advance.107Views0likes0CommentsSCOM 2022 AD group monitoring failing
Hi all, Been a good 5 or 6 years since i last dabbled with SCOM - and i think im missing something simple - but not sure what. Installed SCOM 2022 UR2 a few weeks back and installed the agent onto one DC a part of a POC. Create a custom rule with the following properties Rule category : Alert Rule target: Windows domain controller Log Source : Security Expression: ( ( Event ID Equals 4728 ) AND ( Event Source Contains Domain Admins ) ) Alert description: $Data/LoggingComputer$ $Data/EventDescription$ No overrides. I swear i have done the same (granted many years ago) - but its just not working. I can see the event log entry in the security log that should trigger a match. In the Operations manager log i am getting The EventLog service reported that the Security event log on computer 'dc01.x.com' is corrupt. The Windows Event Log Provider will attempt to recover by re-opening log. One or more workflows were affected by this. Workflow name: MomUIGeneratedRuledfb20600b62c4463840e5c737e29695b Instance name: dc01.x.com Instance ID: {57D34D1F-F4F6-4487-CF86-10886C3AC019} Management group: MG1 This makes me think there is something wrong my rule.... but... i just cant see anything wrong with the rule. Can anyone point out what i am missing ?37Views0likes0CommentsSystem Center 2025 - Product Eval links seem broken
Hello - I've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of system center 2025. The product should have RTM-ed nov 1 and indeed, the product pages are all in place and up to date. The evaluation website allows a user (at least for me) to get through the info gathering page and on to the download links. This is where my Saturday morning took a turn (yup, I'm up just for this early). I digress -- the following links seem broken, has anyone been able to get the latest version downloaded? This page works but the d/l links do not: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/download-system-center-2025 any help, alternate locations to obtain these installers, etc would be greatly appreciated.Solved198Views1like2CommentsComputer / System Protection using large amount of storage
We have a domain controller (Windows Server 2019 Standard) which has the DPM agent installed and is backed up through DPM (2019). The domain controller has a 600GB disk and the used space is approx. 50GB as this server doesn't perform any other function. We have noticed that the Computer \ System Protection data source is using over 900GB of disk storage. Why would the System Protection be using so much storage space for backups?42Views0likes0Commentscreate a SCOM monitor by referring a Rule

We upgraded OS to 2022, applied SQL 2019 CU 28 update and also updated SCOM from 2019 to 2022. The upgrade from SCOM completed but the reporting function failed. We have tried alot possible solutions including fresh reporting installation using SQl reporting 2022 and also changing ports but nothing worked. It is the reporting function only that fails . Also tried installing on a fresh instance but still not working. We have a single SCOM server that hosts all functions. Please help if you got any suggestions. Hello, I’m facing an issue with multicast traffic in my Hyper-V environment and would appreciate some insights. I have IGMP snooping enabled, and I’ve noticed the following behavior: Multicast works when VMs are on different hosts. Multicast also works when VMs are on different logical switches. However, multicast does not work when VMs are on the same host or using the same logical switch. Could someone help explain why multicast is not functioning in the latter scenario? Are there specific configurations or settings I should check in Hyper-V or SCVMM that could affect multicast traffic when VMs are on the same host or logical switch? Thank you for your assistance!101Views0likes0CommentsMulticast Traffic Management in Hyper-V and SCVMM
I have a question regarding the management of multicast traffic in a Hyper-V environment. I've been researching how multicast works with virtual switches and the role of IGMP snooping. From what I understand, multicast traffic is primarily managed at the switch level through IGMP snooping, rather than being directly managed by Hyper-V or SCVMM. Is this correct? Can someone confirm whether the effective management of multicast traffic relies more on the configuration of physical network switches rather than on Hyper-V or SCVMM settings? Additionally, if there are any specific configurations I should be aware of in Hyper-V or SCVMM to ensure proper multicast functionality, I would appreciate your insights!104Views0likes0CommentsSSRS Reporting Services HTTP Error 503
In an attempt to repair a broken SSRS installation for Operations Manager, I have attempted a fresh install using SQL Reporting Services 2017 (14.0.600.1669). When running OM 2019 RTM Report Server (Setup version 10.19.10050.0) it changes the SRS extension in the rsreportserver.config, the ReportServer web service stops working with 503 error. Other discussions I have seen with similar issue suggested a newer version of SSRS (done) and others suggest turning off AV (done) and I am still seeing this issue. Does anyone else know how to troubleshoot why the OM Extension would be giving the ReportServer a 503 error? I am wondering if some other aspect of the server hardening could be impacting it?
