Windows + Intune Office Hours LIVE at Technical Takeoff
Event details
Need help with Windows updates and upgrades in your organization? For targeted questions or things you missed during Technical Takeoff, come connect with the engineers working on Windows and Intune. We're here to help and listen to your feedback!
We will have a broad group of product experts, servicing experts, and engineers representing Windows, Microsoft Intune, Configuration Manager, security, public sector, FastTrack, and more. And, for your continued questions, join us every third Thursday for Windows Office Hours here on the Tech Community.
Familiar face Joe Lurie will host the full one-hour event. For the first half hour, we'll focus on Intune questions with Deepika Wadhwa, Peter Richards, Venkata Raghuram Pampana, Ciaran Murphy, and Alemeshet Alemu. For the second hour, we'll switch out our on-camera experts to focus on Windows with Jason Sandys, Sean McLaren, Aria Carley, Jason Leznek, and Adam Nichols.
This session is part of the Microsoft Technical Takeoff: Windows + Intune. Add it to your calendar, RSVP for event reminders, and post your questions and comments below! This session will also be recorded and available on demand shortly after conclusion of the live event. |

- fazzodudeCopper ContributorI'm seeing multiple occurrences where my Intune clients prompt for user credentials, daily. dsregcmd /status shows the KeySignTest is failed every time this happens. Why are my Intune clients constantly having failed transport keys? How can this be prevented?

First note that Intune is not involved in this process. Authentication is the realm of on-prem AD, Entra ID, and other IdPs and not management solutions like Intune. Next, without a lot more details that this forum is not well suited in handling, nothing can really be said here about possible root causes. Your best path here is to open a support case and/or being in outside eyes in the form of a consultant or partner to assess and diagnose the scenario and issue.
- jabbrwckyBrass ContributorWith Cloud PKI kicking off I’d love to hear more about the Intune / Windows side of on-prem network auth; this has historically been done with NPS but there’s been a big gap for cloud-joined devices until now. Will device-and-user certs be possible? To date that hasn’t worked as it’s a chicken-and-egg scenario (device connection disconnects on user logon but user hasn’t logged in before to be able to sync and get a cert).

NPS is a legacy solution and technology that we have no current plans to update although we are aware of the need and are investigating possible paths forward. The best path to follow today if you have a requirement for device-based certificate authentication via RADIUS is to look at a solution from one of the many network vendors and our partners.
- jackreddingCopper ContributorSince we're on my favorite topic of hardware drivers, can we get a definitive answer - is it possible to use Windows Update / Intune Drivers and Firmware updates while using WSUS for Windows Updates?

- JGelijsteenOccasional ReaderTalking about security baseline. Is there anything to tell when a newer version of the windows baseline (settings catalog version) is coming. Thought somewhere this year it was set to October/November

- RadzikITCopper ContributorIs there plans to expand on what currently works within Policy Sets?

From Jason Sandys live: no plan to invest further in Policy Sets, will stay as-is for the time being. The need is still there, but current implementation is problematic. We're looking at alternate ways of providing the same functionality. - Char_CheesmanBronze Contributor

I just wanted to verify that Driver updates automatically deploy, install/update themselves. I am assuming so, once you create the intune policy.

Our SMEs on camera have switched from Intune to Windows so let's get some Windows deployment, update, and management questions going. (Intune questions are still welcome too! Plenty of SMEs monitoring this chat.) - Jon BassCopper ContributorDrivers and BIOS updates - how does Intune deal with set BIOS passwords on local machines? ALSO how do we stop Bitlocker policy from re-applying when paused for BIOS updates?
- SigurdWernerIron ContributorFrom our experience the newer modes of Dell/HP/Lenovo can update a password protected firmware since the password is protecting the settings only and not the software
