Do you have any suggestions when updating devices with low disk space from 23H2 to 25h2? We have a large number of Surface devices excluded from 24h2 (And now 25h2) due to having less that 25gb disk space. Does 25h2 still require around 25gb?

Hi harveyarscott,
There's really not much that can be done if the devices do not have enough free space. Using Storage Sense may help to free up drive space though: Manage drive space with Storage Sense - Microsoft Support.
As for free space required, I can't actually find any official documentation that calls this out, but it should be the same as any previous full upgrade. Keep in mind though that to upgrade from 24H2 to 25H2, only an enablement package is used and a full in-place upgrade is not required. In theory, this should require less free space as most of the content is actually delivered in previous monthly cumulative updates.

If I need to rollback a hotpatch update, does it require a reboot for the rollback to get applied?

Yes, the rollback of a hotpatch does require a reboot.

Microsoft
Rollback of a hotpatch update does need a reboot. This ensures proper cleanup of hotpatch update from memory.

We're missing the recently deprecated (in October) Intune FU gradual deployment feature. Does Autopatch have anything similar?
- Mounica_Battula
Microsoft
We have heard a lot of feedback on customers asking for Feature updates gradual rollouts, and are currently working on ways to bring back the capability. Do stay tuned, this is work currently in progress.

Thank you Mounica 🙂

Is it possible to use Autopatch to just update Microsoft apps for Enterprise?

You can use Autopatch groups to create M365 app updates policies targeting the monthly enterprise channel for devices added to this Autopatch Group. You'll be able to configure deferrals, deadlines, and notification settings as well.

When On-Premise, how should we manage Features on Demand now that we have UUP ? It looks like wsus is not supported for FoD and SCCM neither based on what Microsoft support told us
"Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) is not supported as a source for FoD or feature file store repair" from :

Joe, woop woop! 🥳. We're still using WufB (i.e. Autopatch, but not proper Autopatch) on our Intune managed devices. How easy it to transition to proper Autopatch? Do any WuFB policies tattoo, or any gotchas we should be aware of please? Thank you!

I’m curious if there are specific capabilities you’re primarily looking for from Autopatch. Cloud-based policies offer several advantages such as gradual rollouts, dynamic distribution, approvals, and Autopatch reporting and you can adopt any or all of these based on your needs.

Is the WUFB reports still a good place to check for updates compliance/issues or all improvements are coming to Intune reports, like shown at Ignite?

How do you suggest we troubleshoot locally on the device if it's not getting the Autopatch updates?

With regards to Autopatch, what are the benefits it offers if we are not using a ringed approach to patching? We currently patch using WUfB via Intune

How do you recommend being able to just pause a specific update (for example 24h2) and not affect the other Win 11 builds (23-25h2) updates without having to create a new Update ring and exclude the devices we want to pause so we can pause them in the newly created ring.

Microsoft
Hi lalanc01, There is no direct method to pause updates for groups of devices outside of the ring concept and thus this requires a dedicated ring and Entra group to target this ring to for any devices that you wish to pause updates on.
