Event details
Join us for a special Ask Microsoft Anything (AMA) live video stream across four Microsoft content collaboration products: SharePoint, OneDrive, Lists, and Stream! Our product teams will be answering your questions about future roadmap and recent innovation – and offering insights on what to expect in the coming months.
Each team will present five minutes of content to catch you up on the highlights, and to spark what questions you might ask, and then have 10-15 minutes to take your questions. Post your questions at any time – starting your question with the product name to help us navigate it to the right experts; example: “SharePoint: How will Copilot help me create pages and news in the future?”
This is a great opportunity to get answers to any questions you may have from recent Microsoft 365 Conference (May 2-4, 2023) disclosures: Review Jeff Teper’s May 2nd (5/2) blog post.

- JenniferEzellCopper ContributorStream Migration - How soon will we see a Stream Migration tool for GCC?
- Marc Mroz
Microsoft
We don't have any new timelines to share yet. But we are getting closer to the needed pieces from SP Migration Manager being ready so that the Stream (Classic) migration can be added on top of Migration Manager in GCC.
- IDC_SueCopper ContributorHi - So great to read about the new Stream web parts coming for SP! With the scheduled release in July, this is cutting it a bit close for organizations creating video portals to launch ahead of the Aug 15 'Classic' upload cut-off. Is there any chance these might be released earlier?
- Marc Mroz
Microsoft
Sorry likely not. You can use the existing web parts like Hero, Highlighted Content, File & Media, and now the List web part with a Playlist. We are working on the new web part as fast as we can.
- IDC_SueCopper ContributorHi - is there a plan to enhance Stream on SharePoint video analytics? Compared to Vimeo's advanced analytics, they are extremely basic. We spend considerably on professional video production and rely heavily on metrics. Makes it difficult to see SoS as a viable video solution as a result.

I'd love to hear more what additional things you'd want to see. What we have in Stream (on SharePoint) with video level views/visitors, retention chart, and site analytics is lots more than we ever had in Stream (classic). We are working on some advanced analytics features as well that aren't quite ready to share details but there is more in the works already. Feel free to add analytics ideas/votes here: https://aka.ms/StreamIdeas

SharePoint: Is it possible/when will it be possible to have a whiteboard stored on SharePoint rather than OneDrive to ensure that it is available when the person who created it leaves the company without having to transfer ownership? A brainstorm is not something owned by a person this is something which belongs to the team.
- MacMartinCOccasional Readerwe have few users reported to IT that they are seeing OneDrive desktop client stuck and displayed a “Processing Changes” message and the client would not take changes that the users are making on their local folders nor download the changes from the cloud. We’ve tried the following steps (not in the particular order) in attempt to resync the client with cloud, but with little success to see the issue resolved… Force quit OneDrive client and re-launch it Uninstall / Re-install OneDrive client on affected PCs Run OneDrive Reset command The common theme between all the affected users seems to be having large amount of files synced (on demand) from either their personal OneDrive and/or 1 – 3 SharePoint libraries. When we perform the above steps to resync, at the beginning the client will function ok but eventually it stuck on a random progress and display that “Processing Changes” message again.

Hi MacMartinC and thanks for the question.
I'll make sure the OneDrive sync teams reviews. And in the interim, they have published a good Troubleshoot OneDrive for Business sync issues
Thanks for your feedback and time in joining the AMA. - Mark
- MacMartinCOccasional ReaderThanks Mark!
- Pete32Brass ContributorONEDRIVE/SHAREPOINT So we had a couple of problems with Synchronisation and Link to OneDrive. What is here the roadmap? Are there any plans to get rid of the Sync Feature in Sharepoint/Teams and allow only the Link option? Is it planed to extend the Path length in Sharepoint to have longer Path then 412 characters ?
- Carter_MSFT
Microsoft
We are working to bring "Add to OneDrive" to everyone so that everyone can use Shortcut Folders instead of syncing Shared Libraries. There is a policy today to remove the Sync button on web if you are interested in rolling that out so you can have only "Add to OneDrive" in the web command bar. Also thanks for the feedback on max file path. We will continue to investigate there- Pete32Brass Contributor@carter Green Thanks for the answers. That is really great. Do you have a documentation how to disable the sync and use only add to OneDrive ?
- rhupfBrass ContributorONEDRIVE: What is the best practice procedure for giving userB access to userA's OneDrive, as in the case of userA leaving the company. Currently we are going into Sharepoint Admin and granting access, but the process is a bit clumsy and doesn't work 100% of the time.
- Carter_MSFT
Microsoft
We are glad you asked this question. We are currently investigating this space and hope to bring a better experience to you soon. A best practice that you can have today, is have UserA move their content to a Shared Library before they leave the company and then anyone else on the Shared Library has access to that content when UserA leaves.- vilodha

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/add-users/remove-former-employee-step-5?view=o365-worldwide is our currently recommended approach but understand its a bit clunky. As Carter mentioned we are investigating opportunities for improvement.
- Rhys WilliamsIron ContributorWhy did you decide to terminate Mover.io and move all connectors into Microsoft Migration Manager, except tenant to tenant file migrations? We’ve gone from the nice UX of Mover to a powershell CLI.
- YogeshR
Microsoft
To ensure a secure and compliant first-party solution, it was imperative to integrate Mover's 3P cloud migrations within the admin center and offer a consistent experience with the on-prem file share migrations. We didn't bring in the tenant-to-tenant to MM because a faster technology is being offered through the cross-tenant tool (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/enterprise/cross-tenant-onedrive-migration?view=o365-worldwide). This tool moves references within the Microsoft tenants (unlike Mover, which moves bytes, which is prone to double-throttling from source and destination) and offers significantly higher throughput.
- Kelly_LaForest_CDWBrass ContributorCross Tenant User Data Migration is super cool, however, only available as an add-on for Enterprise Agreement customers. There are many customers who are not EA and therefore cannot use this technology. Quest, AvePoint, and ShareGate are our go-to options for T2T file migrations.
- atrain204Iron ContributorWill the new page sharing UX for SharePoint make it easier to share pages to Team Channels? Currently, posting a SharePoint page URL does NOT provide users with a preview of the page, unlike sharing a page to Viva Engage. If not, when can we expect this to happen?
- ITpadawanCopper ContributorSharePoint Question: Is there a way to create a link to a PDF document so the PDF opens in a new window and opens all the way, not in preview? I've been asked to do this for fillable PDFs.
- KasperLarsenIron ContributorJust a suggestion: perhaps showing the PDF in a PnP Modern Search web part rather than in the library and tweak the link in the search web part to open in a new tab ?
