Event details
Join us for two special events where our Planner product team shares what is coming to the new Microsoft Planner.
In our Meet the Makers virtual event on April 3rd, leaders from the Planner product team will talk about the latest on the future of task and work management for Microsoft 365. They will explain how the new Microsoft Planner brings together the simplicity of Microsoft To Do, the collaboration of Microsoft Planner, the power of Microsoft Project for the web - with the intelligence of Microsoft Copilot - into a simple, familiar experience.
Our experts will showcase some of the key new capabilities and improvements of the new experience, including demonstrations on how to leverage Copilot in Planner to create plans, tasks, and goals and get Copilot to answer questions on progress, priorities, workload and more.
On April 4, we will host a special Ask Microsoft Anything (AMA). During the AMA session members of the Planner product team will answer questions directly from the community. This is a great opportunity to get answers to any questions you may have from the recent Meet the Makers event.

- Alan_Lee_888Copper ContributorIf I subscrible to premium plan and create gantt chart and other related premium features, can I share the gantt chart or other content created under premium plan to colleagues or external users who doesn't have premium subscription?
- Laura_Becker
Microsoft
Yes, Alan you can!- Alan_Lee_888Copper ContributorThanks Laura. To clarify further, my colleagues and external users can edit and collaborate in my premium content (ie. gantt charts) that I create without all of them subscribing to a premium subscription? Thanks in advance for the clarification and I just want to make sure that premium subscription is needed for the project managers only who create the Gantt chart, but not the users, collobrator or contributors who access or edit gantt chart. It would be way too expensive if all people who see, touch, or edit gantt chart need a premium license.
- -_RH_-Iron ContributorYes! Versioning would be ideal. Currently, there isn't even a Recycle Bin, which would be a bare minimum for serious use. But versioning would be a much better solution.

Thanks for this feedback Ryan - could you share more on how you would wish to use versioning in your day to day task management?
- Jamesp43510Copper ContributorHi George, loved what you said about filtering Agile tasks within Waterfall. Will developers be able to customise the Agile board and tasks?
- AnnaChatysCopper ContributorAnother question regarding the project on the web as a part of Planner: will it be possible to save the project so that you can go back to a previous version if you make a major mistake and want to revert to a version from a few hours ago, similar to what you can do with Excel/Word documents?
- savsat01Copper Contributor
Regarding the location of the data, my concern is if I'm working on secure work. Will the planner data be held locally on my PC or on the cloud (sovereign or global)?
- Candice_JayCopper Contributor
I feel like you aren't answering the generic basic questions people are asking, but are instead answering questions that most people aren't asking, almost as if you pre determined what you wanted to address...

Candice_Jay Hello, the Planner team is working to address all the questions for this event, so even if your question does not get a response in the livestream, you will get a response directly to your text comment.
- acenspades808Copper ContributorDo you only get to see the "Premium" plans after you have a project plan license?
- Laura_Becker
Microsoft
Hi Wyatt, Basic plans are available with an E3 or E5 Microsoft license. For Premium plans, you will need a paid license to experience the premium capabilities. You can share premium plans with those that do not have a premium license.- HowardCrow
Microsoft
Just to be really clear - M365 users can see all plans (if they are given permissions) - but they will only see 'basic features' in premium plans. hope that helps.
- AhmedNadimCopper ContributorWhen will the ability to mention people in the comments on a task be available?
- AnavSilverman
Microsoft
If you have premium plans added as a tab in a Teams channel, you can add Teams chats associated with individual tasks in the plans (with all the Teams chat capabilities - @ mentions, emojis, etc.). There is more we want to do to improve making @ mention available in the context of plans, and we have more enhancements in our backlog.- AhmedNadimCopper ContributorWhich premium plans could you please be more specific? I have in my organization a variety of license between teams basic, standard, premium etc.
- lexgee02Brass ContributorThis has already been asked but is a CRITICAL question we need answered. Will there be a recycle bin/way to restore deleted items in the new planner
- AnavSilverman
Microsoft
Thank you for the question and appreciate the feedback. Recycle bin is on our backlog. Would be great to learn more about your specific use cases. For example, do you need the ability to restore deleted plans? restore deleted tasks? both?- lexgee02Brass ContributorBoth of these. There was another question asked about permissioning (which is also critical) because if someone goes in and deletes something they shouldn't, there is also no way to restore it. As mentioned below, versioning and a recyle bin are both important to adoption and general business use.
- -_RH_-Iron ContributorOr much better, versioning. A Recycle Bin would be a bare minimum for serious use.

Microsoft
Appreciate this input. There are two Feedback Portal items you may want to upvote if you have a moment. This helps us track the number of organizations asking for the ability to recover deleted items.

- JDolezal-ALTCopper ContributorWhen having Tasks are setup with dependency will there be a notification to the assigned users once the FS dependency are completed? Or will we need to setup a power automate flow to make a notification?
- Biatrice_Ambrosa
Microsoft
We do not currently have notifications for completed dependencies. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I could see how they would be useful for both completion as well as slippage.
- samirp20Brass ContributorI see M365 license user (no premium license) can collaborate and updates project created by licensed user in default environment. When this experience will be matched for named environment?
- NancyatMSFT
Microsoft
We don't have plans to match the functionality in named environments at this time - could you share more on how you might use these capabilities in a named project? Thanks for the question Samir!
