Event details
Join us for two special events where our Planner product team shares what is coming to the new Microsoft Planner.
In our Meet the Makers virtual event on April 3rd, leaders from the Planner product team will talk about the latest on the future of task and work management for Microsoft 365. They will explain how the new Microsoft Planner brings together the simplicity of Microsoft To Do, the collaboration of Microsoft Planner, the power of Microsoft Project for the web - with the intelligence of Microsoft Copilot - into a simple, familiar experience.
Our experts will showcase some of the key new capabilities and improvements of the new experience, including demonstrations on how to leverage Copilot in Planner to create plans, tasks, and goals and get Copilot to answer questions on progress, priorities, workload and more.
On April 4, we will host a special Ask Microsoft Anything (AMA). During the AMA session members of the Planner product team will answer questions directly from the community. This is a great opportunity to get answers to any questions you may have from the recent Meet the Makers event.

- OlbyS420Copper ContributorHow Project Online and Planner are aligned. Whether Plan 1, 3 and 5 of Project Online will be linked to Planner or it is only Project for the Web and Planner are merged.
- Fabio_CandidoCopper ContributorIs it correct to understand that MS Project will be decommissioned at some point, precisely when New Planner catch-up with its capabilities?
- Laura_Becker

Hi Fabio, I'm not sure exactly which Project version you are referring to but here is a link to our FAQs: https://aka.ms/newplannerfaq and answers to some of your questions:With the rebranding of Project for the web to Planner, will Project be retired? No, Project is not being retired. • Project for the web capabilities are becoming part of the new Planner. • Project desktop, Project Online, and Project Server will continue to be available and supported for both existing and new customers. I am a current Project Online customer. What does this mean for me? Current customers can continue to use Project Online. There is currently no end of service date for Project Online
- JLRBrass ContributorWill Planner have integration with Azure DevOps?
- RobSmith1426Copper ContributorWill you be adding back links to tasks created in Loops - it's often difficult to track down the original source
- chrisgchambersBrass ContributorDo plans linked to Loop pages create groups or is that an exception?
- TarkanSevilmis
Microsoft
Plans created in Loop are not creating groups. They are in "Roster" containers and are linked to the Loop page for authorization.- chrisgchambersBrass ContributorThank you, that's what I thought, but the "it always creates a group when shared" comment threw me off!
- samirp20Brass ContributorI am not seeing Project for the web tasks in My tasks and My day , is this available in preview or GA? If yes need help.

Microsoft
The ability to see Project for the Web tasks which are assigned to you in My Tasks is not yet fully rolled out but we expect it to become available to all new Planner users over the next several weeks as we gradually expand the rollout audience.

I can see that the new planner is enabled in our tenant and I do have the new Teams, but I still do not see tasks from a plan/project under "Assigned to me"?? Any suggestions?
- Brian-SmithFormer EmployeePatience is all I can suggest for now Sam, that part is rolling out and you should see those tasks soon (assuming they are from the default environment).
- Erik van HurckCopper ContributorJust making sure mine don't snow under, I had a whole slew of questions (5). Here they are "in bulk" 😁: Question 1: How do you (Microsoft) plan for upgrading the old Project For the Web customer? Follow up/deep dive- For named org scenarios specifically I can assume it's a different answer. Question 2: What is the task limit going to be? Question 3: Who is the target customer/user for the New Planner? Question 4: Will there be any restrictions when interacting with the Project API? Can we read, create etc.? Question 5: In yesterdays call there was a license slide that didn't show Plan 5 which used to be there for Project for the web and Project Online. Is that license tier removed? Follow up question - Does that mean that Plan 3 licensed people will be able to take full advantage of the new planner (including planner premium capabilities and Copilot)?
- Brian-SmithFormer EmployeeFor a couple of questions you didn't find answers for Erik, for task limits these don't change, but keep an eye on the roadmap for any increase. New Planner does not expose any Plan 5 features, but it still exists and makes most sense for PowerApps users rather than the native apps right now. More later. So yes, Plan 3 would give you everything in new Planner, including Copilot when it comes.
- Erik van HurckCopper Contributor"As we speak" we are investigating Named Orgs for Planner Premium plans.
- Erik van HurckCopper ContributorThere was mention about the Plan 5 license mid meeting. This does shake up my concept of the licenses.
- Terry BusterCopper ContributorAbsolutely love the new product alreeady! Is there a goal to have this be global? As in, will it replace To Do? Seems it is on it's way already.
- John_HooverIron ContributorAs P4W is rolled into the new Planner, are there plans to expand the set of P4W (Planner) features to bring over more of the missing MS Project features? Things such as baselining project schedules, adding in bill rates to calculate resource costs, better options for Gantt chart generation and sharing project schedules with external Customers (consultant project needs).
