Event details
We are very excited to announce a Microsoft Teams ‘Ask Microsoft Anything’ (AMA) specific to the new Microsoft Teams, now generally available!
The AMA will take place on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. PT in the comment section below.
An AMA is a live online event similar to an “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit. This AMA gives you the opportunity to connect with members of the product engineering team who will be on hand to answer your questions and listen to feedback.

- Hughes818Iron ContributorIs the Teams mobile app also going to get a new refresh as a result of New Teams or will that remain the same?

There is no direct impact to the Teams mobile app experience on iOS and Android since the new Teams is largely an architectural update focused on desktop, web, and VDI.
- JonBMATRIXXCopper ContributorWe push backgrounds to our Teams clients. When upgraded to the New Teams these backgrounds are no longer there. When will this feature be available?

In the New Teams, Will we be able to move past chat conversations to a Team Channel? - anymannCopper Contributor
I really like the quick option to change between tenants and the cross-tenant notifications in the new Teams client and getting so used to it, that every time I am on my iphone I ask myself, when there will be a new teams client for iOS available?
- KeithTBrass ContributorWe don't want users to see or use the "Try new Teams" slider in the old client, so we set the Teams Update policy setting for 'Use New Teams client' to Disabled; however, we want to make the new Teams client available to users to install from Software Center and/or Company Portal app... how can we still hide the slider for all but allow them to use the new Teams client if they install it via those methods?
- KeithTBrass ContributorHappy to hear others input on how you are controlling the deployment of new Teams client to managed endpoints where the users have no local Admin rights. We don't want users clicking a slider to install applications and want to keep that blocked for all but allow users who install new Teams via approved methods (Software Center and Company Portal) to work. What are you doing at your Organization? Thanks!
- kellydccoIron ContributorWhen I reviewed the Known issues in the new Microsoft Teams desktop client - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn, the What features are changing? Section indicates that the “Notify when available" feature will not exist in the NEW teams. The 'What features are changing?' section specifically says: - CLASSIC Teams: Allow users to follow another user's presence, then notify them of availability. - NEW Teams: Select a user’s avatar or profile photo anywhere in new Teams to quickly get an overview of their online status, next available calendar slot in Outlook, work hours, local time, or work location (remote or office). This is a popular function and is preventing some of our customers from transitioning to the NEW Teams. Can you please update if this will be developed as a feature in the NEW Teams? ******************************************************************** FYI, I also posted in the Teams section of the Tech Community and haven't not received any responses from Microsoft yet (only others who want this feature back): https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-teams/notify-when-available-feature-in-new-teams-app/m-p/3961325/emcs_t/S2h8ZW1haWx8dG9waWNfc3Vic2NyaXB0aW9ufExPMjZGVUE0S1ZSU1VBfDM5NjEzMjV8U1VCU0NSSVBUSU9OU3xoSw#M128723

Saw this while cleaning up my inbox, just in case you haven't found it by now:
In the meantime, this feature is back but somewhere else entirely (at least for Mac):
- Open the Settings -> Notifications and activity -> Manage status notifications
- Add the employees you want to get notified about.
I don't like this solution though, as sometimes I just want(ed) to get notified to have a call with that person and not to stalk him/her all the time. 🙃
- Ryan_LaLondeCopper ContributorSeems like some meetings that are in my calendar don't let me know the meeting started, but others do. I made sure I wasn't in DND
- Kinaxis_KurtCopper ContributorWill Production Capabilities for Apple Silicon Macs be fixed in this version? NDI and hardware out currently are not supported.
- WendyEBrass ContributorIs there an actual event happening (would love a link to join if so) or is this just a feed with everyone saying that nothing is working for them? Does not fill me with confidence!
- MrDapperCopper ContributorI think its just this chat board and there are people here to answer questions. Just like the Ask Me Anything on Reddit normally works. Would have loved a townhall like setup...maybe even showcasing the new Teams Town Hall...but I believe text chat is how this works.
- ronisezenonCopper ContributorI was wondering the same, but this is it. Above it says: "The AMA will take place on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. PT in the comment section below."
- Missy_EvensonBrass ContributorI had misunderstood the set-up for this meeting as I thought it would be Live. I've never attended an "AMA" type session before, but apparently, it's similar to a Reddit AMA. New learning experience for me!
- Forrest_HIron ContributorWill third party or Business Developed apps issue be resolved?
