Event details
We are very excited to announce a Microsoft Teams ‘Ask Microsoft Anything’ (AMA) specific to the new Microsoft Teams, now generally available!
The AMA will take place on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. PT in the comment section below.
An AMA is a live online event similar to an “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit. This AMA gives you the opportunity to connect with members of the product engineering team who will be on hand to answer your questions and listen to feedback.

- DennisGaidaBrass ContributorTeams local API when? The official Steam Deck Microsoft Teams Plugin (https://apps.elgato.com/plugins/com.microsoft.teams) simply doesn't work without the API. I am eagerly awaiting this API (or a rework of the plugin, using cloud / graph API).

What are some best practices for teams to utilize their group calendar? Here is a feedback item I recently posted around calendars…users are very confused:

- Paul FredericksonBrass ContributorIs there a way to determine how many users in my organization are using the New Teams vs. Classic? We currently allow the toggle for users to opt-in, however we want to get an idea of the percentage of people who have used New Teams (e.g. in the last 30 days) so we can better understand our change management requirements.

Hi Paul, we are exploring ways to make this data available within usage reports in Teams Admin Center. Stay tuned for more details!
- Ryan_LaLondeCopper ContributorA behavior I am noticing when I start up Teams, it starts up at the subscribed Teams list. In the old version, it would start up at whatever your last view was, which for me was always Chat. Now I have to click into Chat after each launching of Teams.
- gmatxCopper ContributorWhen will the number of pinned increase from 15? This is not enough.
- Forrest_HIron ContributorWhile in the Tasks app if you right-click on the Important Category and choose Refresh , the Teams Desktop app crashes.

Are there going to be any improvements to the back-end processes of renaming Teams? Here is a feedback item I recently posted around the issue:

Hello, My name is Janet from Toronto.
Our pilot users have been using the new Teams for a few weeks now and so far the following issues were reported. It seems that by users flipping back between classic and new Teams will somehow fixed some issues.
Here are some of the issues we encountered:
- User unable to unpin the self chat - after a week or so, issue resolved itself
- profile card will not show up when hover or click on the profile image of other users - user revert back to classic and return to new Teams fixed the issue
- During meeting, video stream freezes multiple time
- During meeting, other users in meeting who are using classic Team can not take over the screen sharing from the new Teams client users
- User's profile status is showing up with white circle
We will be enabling the new teams toggle for everyone in November and we are worry that the new Teams still not stable enough.
- Josinev4Copper ContributorWhen you want to open files in the new Teams, by default they are always opened within Teams. If you go to change the default by clicking on the 3 dots that appear behind your document, you will get a notification. This shows that you will leave the new Teams environment and will be sent back to the classic Teams. Any timeline of when this will change?
- Chris_FerraroIron ContributorI had a customer ask about being able to @everyone in a private channel in New Teams. Will this feature be coming to New Teams + if so when? They told me they will be not using new teams for this feature.
- Chris_FerraroIron ContributorAm hoping to get an answer from this event if Microsoft has plans of getting full feature parity including this feature + when?
- ElenaAsaninBrass ContributorHi Chris, was it really @everyone or @channelname? If it is the latter, I had the same issue here, turns out, that the checkbox was not activated for that. You can go to the elipses menu of the private channel > Manage channel > Settings. The strange part was, that I had the settings where different in the new and the old. So I had to go back to the old Teams to also activate the checkbox. Maybe this helps.
- Chris_FerraroIron ContributorUser was saying Everyone. In classic teams you can use everyone but I am seeing what you mentioned as an option.
